Hi there, I recently had a blood test done which came back with the following result:
VITAMIN B12: 186 pmol/L 140.00 - 724.00
Which a number of people have suggested to me is low. I just wanted to know that if I take B12 supplements is it likely to influence blood tests for Intrinsic Factor, MMA etc. ? As in should I wait to have them done before taking B12?
Many thanks for your help.

Taking supplements that contain B12 will affect any tests ordered by your doctor to assess your B12 status. You should not take any supplement with B12 before having your B12 assessed (including MMA/homocysteine/Active B12). For testing intrinsic factor antibodies: keep one week between an injection and the test.
