So sorry to hear you are in so much pain - I am the same and have had extreme pain for over a year. I finally had the MRI and they found spinal stenosis. Make sure he offers you good pain relief to start with and then an appointment with a specialist. I am going to see a neuro surgeon soon.

What pain relief do they prescribe you? I. At the desperate stage now.

Good luck with your appointment

Yes I know how you feel. Well my GP's have not really been of much help. First they said my B12 level of 140ng/L was not particularly low and then it took months to refer me to a rheumatologist who hasn't been all that much help but at least she did order the MRI and finally after over a year I have a diagnosis but they refuse to say that low B12 could be implicated in any way. So I have now seen an osteopath who says the treatment (or lack of it) so far is appalling and once she has seen my scans she will refer me to a neuro surgeon. She is concerned that I may also have degeneration of the cord. As for pain relief - to begin with i had nortryptaline which does help many but after 6 weeks it didn't help me at all. So now I have 30/500 Cocodamol which takes the edge off it. However according to the osteopath I'm not taking enough of it and should have the full dose 2 tablets 4 times a day. After the last request for a repeat of it the GP wants to see me again so I am hoping she (a new one) is more understanding. The last one said many people have pain like mine and have to put up with it!!!!

I used to have severe pain in my spine to the point where I could hardly walk. All my doctor could do was to give me painkillers. But he did suggest that I try a local cranial Osteo. Two treatments and the pain was pretty much gone. I now go monthly to maintain it. She also suggested that I take MSM, chondroitin and that helped.
