diabetic review went okay..

..I saw a different nurse which is typical as I wanted to speak to the one who did my last blood test !

He seemed pleasant enough and took blood for thyroid..kidney and liver function etc.

When I mentioned the PA diagnosis and that I had received no mediation at all but that I had been in touch with yourselves, he said, "Always get advice from your doctor, Not a good idea joining any forums as they just cause you to worry"

When I mentioned I had spoken to a pharmacist and was now taking a Boots branded B12 supplement, he said "I would not advise you to carry on taking them without speaking to your GP"

I explained my next GP appointment is for next month and he suggested I wait until then.

I was going to argue my point but he had other reviews to do so I just came out...I only realised half way home that id forgotten to ask what my folate was at my last blood test.

Grrrr,

Perhaps yvonneu you could ask your "different nurse" to "review" the advice that is given on this forum, which often includes encouragement to "go and see your doctor" in addition to knowledgeable information gleaned by many responsible people (such as our administrators) from many years of personal experience of P.A. and maybe he will learn something.

I'm glad at least that your "diabetic review went okay.." and hope that you get the treatment you need very soon.

well said clive

and yvonneu, may be next time you could point out to the nurse that NHS patient site actually includes forum feeds from HU on pages for various conditions, including PA and B12 deficiency.

it is an awful realisation that I am now longer Yvonne but simply a number, a list of diagnoses.

Arrogant and somewhat naïve of me to ever think I was more ...

it is not arrogant or naive to expect that you will be treated as a person and it is a sad reflection upon the medical profession that they are unable to do this - whatever the reasons - ignorance, arrogance or lack of funding.

Unfortunately moving practice is no guarantee that things will be better but understand if you have lost confidence - and that really reflects upon those that are treating you rather than yourself.

Thank you....think I need to find another practice all together. I have lost all confidence in this one.
