I did have to use Furosemide 2012 for 10mths before Mitral Valve Repair

Thanks

I had 40+ years of depression and anxiety - 25+ years of neuro symptoms - never had any signs of anaemia - so perfectly possible. Having high folate levels is known to potential mask the development of any anaemia.

There are, however, many other things that can cause similar symptoms to B12 deficiency and given that you have had heart problems I'd caution against trying to go it alone and trying B12 without talking things through with your GP.

Do you have exact results of blood tests? and do you know if nitrous oxide was used during the mitral valve repair?

Hi Thank you Gambit62

for your reply ,my cardiologist is aware of my B12 loading dose has recently started my B12 is

just in range 145ng/L

130-800 but as i have mentioned a while ago on the forum GP didnt seem bothered about testing MMA or Intrinsic factor or folate test

Just followed my symptoms i am asuming the small amount i have is what he is treating which i showed him

which aren't as many as the Guidelines mention

were as my mother has PA and neurological symptoms with injection every 8 Weeks. You can see i am still a little confused as i seem to fall in a grey area at the moment .After the loading doses and 3 months on would GP be able to check MMA or intrinsic ?

I had a general anethesia

so may have been what you mentioned.

It would of been better if the MMA or Intrisic tests were done but partly my fault asking for the loading dose ,

but as already said on the forum your body can in fact take high amounts of B12 and heart op was only really on a valve repair, a bit worn out ,like me!!

thanks for you kind advice as always

thanks for the clarifications.

Checking for IF would be possible - as long as it was done a little while after your last shot - think there is something specific in the pinned posts now.

MMA probably not worth doing if your GP is treating you as having an absorption problem as may well not show anything up. This test can provide evidence of ongoing deficiency at the cell level but it isn't clear that it is conclusive and it can be affected by other conditions.

Presume that the level was before treatment started rather than the level after - if it is a reading after then it's significant and indicative that you need B12 a lot more frequently as it should be much higher than that.

thanks for your thoughtful replies much appreciated.

Thats good i could get the IF test then. The B12 reading was before

the loading dose

Still not sure what the plan is with the GP have sent a note

seeing if would agree to extra week

to the two week loading but no reply as yet mentioned BNF but even im no sure i need the extra injection doses .Hope you are doing well with your health, good luck
