Hi all .. Thank you for all the advice and support on here,

I had my meeting as planned with my GP today. Last week he agreed to read the information on the BNF page you all suggested, when we met today he agreed that after reading the guidelines he was happy to prescribe a further 6 loading shots ( I've already had my first 6 ) he said the next 6 would be over the next 2 weeks and then he will review it again after another meeting with me. He's trying really hard to chase up the Haemotologist referral and says will continue to do so as he would feel more comfortable with the Haemotologists opinion,

To be honest he was great, really understood my conserns and genuinely wanted to get me the right treatment.

I'm sharing this as hopefully it can help restore faith for those that have up to press not had great GP experiences.

I now feel so much more secure knowing that my medical future is in such great hands ..

My DR gets my thumbs up :-)

He also checked all my reflexes and responses ( which were all in good order .. Thank goodness )

Kellybee that's really good news and it's so lovely to read of someone being treated 'properly'.

Just keep at him and make sure you get the right frequency after the loading doses 😀.

Also - just be aware that some haematologists are not very good at B12 deficiency so be prepared to stand your ground if you have to. But hopefully, it won't come to that.

Well done and hope all continues in this vein 😀

Pleased to hear that he listened.

"he agreed that after reading the guidelines he was happy to prescribe a further 6 loading shots"

Do you know which guidelines he has read? has he read the BCSH Cobalamin and Folate Guidelines?

i found that in some areas of teh UK, here are local NHS B12 deficiency guidelines. Some of these local guidelines have not been updated for several years so may not have been updated with reference to BCSH Cobalamin and Folate guidelines (came out in 2014).

"I'm not great at standing my ground"

I found the summary that fbirder compiled helpful for helping me to stand my ground. It has useful quotes that can help to refute some of the misunderstandings some doctors have about b12 deficiency. link on his profile page or in third pinned post.

"next 6 would be over the next 2 weeks and then he will review it again after another meeting"

With neuro symptoms such as tingling that you mentioned in other threads, hopefully BNF and BCSH advice that with neuro symptoms loading should be every other day for as long as symptoms improve will be followed.
