Take as much of it as you want unless it contains B6 - in which case avoid taking so much of it that you go over about 500 mg a day of B6 as it has been linked to memory problems at that level. 1000mg has been linked to neurological problems

500 is toxic. Over 25 can already give neuro symptoms in some people, 25 is also the UL.

Carolyn: you have to find the right supplement for you and the right balance. Unfortunately this takes time, as does recovery. Maybe the spray is just not working for you or you are sensitive to the additives, or maybe the tablet is not helping much. You could try switching and taking higher dose sublingual. If you feel really unwell, then talk to your GP as well.

there are different UL depending on where you are - US goes with 100mg, EU 25mg and UK actually goes with 12.5mg.

I am not aware of any study that has actually shown toxicity at 25 - or even at 100 - as these are reduced factors based on assumptions that long term use may produce factors that wouldn't apply from the terms of the studies so the UL has been reduced to reflect this - please refer to p29 onwards in the link given above and posted below

This is a link to the last review on B6 that I could find on the EFSA site

I did not say toxicity at >25, I said that some people get neurological symptoms when taking (more than 25) B6 as a supplement. I've seen/heard it a a lot over the years. When they stop taking it, symptoms usually go away, though that sometimes even takes a while. Heard it with doses as low as 12,5 but that's rare. I would never recommend taking more than 25-50 and why would you? (unless prescribed (and monitored) by a health professional) B6 is easily absorbed by most people, so more is not necessary.

re scientific around 100: Dalton and Dalton. (and a dutch article but that was just two people, taking 24 and 40 a day)

If you suddenly get tingling again after it went away with the B12 treatment, stop the B-complex/multi and it might just work..seen it too many times to be a coincidence.

btw there is the suggestion that P-5-P, 'active' B6 does not give the neuro symptoms.

the definition of neurotoxicity is having some effect on the healthy function of the nervous system.

so if you are saying that 25mg causes neurological problems that is neurotoxicity.

The Dalton and Dalton study (use of B6 to treat patients with premenstral syndrome) used a range of 50-500mg but has been criticised as specifics relating to different doses are not available - though the incidence of problems was reported to be amongst patients who had taken higher doses for longer periods

However, do agree that if you start to experience tingling at high doses of B6 then you should stop the supplementation with B6 and see if that confirms that B6 is the culprit.

Though not sure if the supplement in question does actually contain B6 or not.
