this is quite pink.. I wiped it as i thought this might be some of the b12... I will update if it turns to s bruise but it doesn't look like it will.. I didn't have a mark from when GP nurse did it... Strange... 😊

Any chance its the hydroxo sitting under the skin? Or is it a definite bruise?

That's what I thought it might be under... Does that mean it didn't go into a muscle? It was there when I first took it out and it didn't bleed at all, but appeared after... 😊 No bruise very pink the colour of the liquid...

I inject subcut and nearly always end up with a pink mark like this under the skin. It takes a day or two to disperse.

Do you think I never got any in the muscle? Or does this mean I released some as I came out? Does it last as long if you don't get the muscle? Xx

I've never self-injected into the muscle, but I suppose it's possible that some leaked into the subcutaneous area. I've read that absorption is better from the muscle, but I don't know if that's actually the case for everyone.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that absorption from the muscle should be more rapid because muscle tissue is more highly perfused with blood. So the B12 doesn't have very far to go to get into the bloodstream.

Fat, on the other hand, has very few blood vessels, so it will have to travel further. Also, because B12 is water soluble it's not going to travel through fat cells very fast.

But that could be a good thing. If your B12 levels zoom up quickly then they may well get up to the level where B12 is eliminated by the kidney. Slow absorption from fat will mean the peak blood concentration will be lower, so more of it my stay in the body.

It's probably just a drop of B12 that's leached back under the skin.

After over 600 injections I've had the occasional "blood mark" on my shirt sleeve at the injection site which my wife tells me isn't blood but the smallest drop of B12. It probably squeezes itself out following the exit path of the needle but, in your case above, it couldn't "escape" the skin so just "lay there".

Unless your leg drops off in the next couple of days I wouldn't worry about it scorpiojo and in future you might try gently rubbing around the injection site.

I hope it clears up soon.

Hi Scorpiojo,

Just a quick question. Did you feel any benefit from the injection?

I can feel when I go through into the muscle, you should feel a slight resistance as you do. I also leave the needle in for 10 seconds after, this is suppose to ensure the B12 stays in the muscle and doesn't leak out x

Yes, I don't pull it out too fast myself... Oh well, it's nearly gone so nothing bad happened lol... X

You probably did not inject deep enough so it did not absorb at the usual rate. Also make sure to massage the site adequately.

I don't normally touch it after? I hadn't realised you needed too...The mark has gone so alls well that ends well 😊 x
