Was it the same test? ie active B12 rather than serum B12? or is it possible that someone has misread the results? eg were you given them on the phone?

I had a print out both time both serum b12 I'm completely confused. I asked the doctor why such a difference and he said he's no idea !!!!!!

sometimes tests just go wrong and give mis-readings - doesn't happen often but may be it happened this time ... or they mixed your results up with someone else. Does seem rather incredible that it would drop that quickly - though that also isn't beyond the bounds of possibility

What do you inject and where do you get it from?

Goldpharma and inject top of arm

I'm just guessing here, but perhaps you've started to clear B12 from your system very rapidly? I've read somewhere (so sorry, can't search for the reference just now) that some people do clear it within hours. How are you feeling at the moment?

Headaches. Tired. Pains very bad on my hands.

Not good. I can only suggest you try injecting more often, or a larger dose, to see if it makes you feel better. I'm no expert on the metabolism of B12, so I hope a more knowledgeable person will comment shortly.

Meant to ask: do you also have hypothyroidism?

I'm pretty sure that it takes a while (days?) for the B12 to diffuse out from the muscle tissue into the bloodstream.

I think this varies from person to person.

Yes, but not by such a huge amount. Not unless there's something up with the kidneys, hindering reabsorption in the tubule.

Let me get this right -

You had a blood test in June 2016 that was 1151.

You had a blood test this week (June 2016) that was 102.

May 2016 and then again last week

It might be a good idea to visit the GP again and ask for a general check up to rule out any other illness.

Hi Catherine... I am wondering have you had any kind of infection ie urine infection etc? These can demolish your stores of B12?

Unbelievable that your GP did not pick up on this.

I've had a throat infection. I've spoken to doctor this afternoon they are doing another blood test after 6 loading doses again.

How soon after your injection was the previous test?

How frequently do you inject?

Hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin?

Hi there,

I can relate to your dramatic drop in B12. I had mine tested last month and was 1500, 4 weeks later dropped to 600, 2 weeks later I wasnt coping at all and it must have plummeted further.

I have no idea why my levels drop so rapidly and ive had numerous blood tests, a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy, with absolutely no issues showing.

I have to have weekly or biweekly shots, otherwise I just drop.

Sorry to boycott your post, but I have never messaged on this site before and when I read your post I just couldn't believe there was someone else like me out there!

Any other advice would be normously appreciated as I kust dont understand why this is happening... and continuing to happen

I had an MCH of 1 on one of my tests (usually 29.5-30.6 for me ; 26.4-34) I think just a clerical error. Hopefully the same for you.
