Anyone else have an extreme change after 1st B12?.

I took an initial dose of sublingual methylcobalamin. Never had shots or any sublinguals before. 4 days later , I was in tears. Like a smack in the face, all this mental cloudiness, dizziness, everything gone. I didn't realize this is how normal people are supposed to feel! Pins and needles sensations have not improved, but this is such a change regardless. I don't even know what to do with myself now. I don't even know how to fall asleep now, I used to just crash from pure exhaustion. Has anyone else had this kind of effect after first dose?

It took many weeks for me to see improvement. Great news that you seem to be responding to methyl B12.

Yes. After my first dose, I woke up the next morning with improved eyesight. I had no idea that could even happen or that B12 affected eyesight at all, so I know it wasn't a placebo effect. I felt wonderful for the first time in I don't know how long. I consider it my Ah-ha moment that I was finally on the right track. :)

Yes I felt clearer in my thinking and more alive shortly after first couple of injections and also better eyesight. I really could not believe the difference in me and neither could my family. The neuro symptoms took about 2 months to resolve mostly. Keep going!

Also be careful about doing too much- I started doing mad stuff like power hosing and completely wrecked myself so remember to pace yourself. It is hard not to try to make the best of the new you. I really felt as if I had been given a 'second chance', hence my name here. I thought the 40's meant feeling crap and tired with hair falling out etc. until I got bad neuro symptoms and then realised something else was up and then discovered B12 deficiency.

That's wonderful. What was your B12 level when you were tested?

That's the problem. This is all new to me after other diagnoses were suspected for my symptoms. Recently found I likely have a family history of PA and did this "experiment". Doctors have refused to check me despite my symptoms and low ferritin levels since H & H were okay. I had to beg a nurse practitioner to order a serum b12 today a week after I took the B12 and noticed improvement (she refused MMA and homocysteine). She said no way, you are too young for PA (I am 34) and sublingual couldn't have worked if it was PA. Maybe it's something similar to PA? So confused right now.

You are not too young for PA! It is interesting how prevalent this myth is I have been told the same and I am 48.

Hi Kristen,

I was 30 when diagnosed KristenV having had stomach surgery aged 17. Children can have B12d and P.A. and it can be inherited. Join the PAS (costs only £20 for life membership) and they will give you good advice.

Any serum B12 tests taken now will be skewed because of the supplements but make sure your folate level is good as the two work hand in hand.

mine was about 180 so just below reference range 190-660 so GP was not going to treat. I insisted and I'm glad I did. I have not looked back!

I had this after my third loading dose. I woke up able to feel my hands and feet properly for the first time in years.

I had the same reaction, it wasn't an immediate cure and symptoms still come and go, but yes - it was amazing to feel like myself again out of the blue. My vision cleared, my sense of humour suddenly came back, motivation - lots more.
