Are the cheaper B12 sublinguals as good as the more expensive well known ones ?

I'm not sure myself but they have discussed this on an CFS/ME site, they seemed to find a few brands which worked better than others. I think the conclusion was the original B12 source and how it was processed might make a difference. But even then, some people swear by different brands/b12 types of sublingual.

Anyway, if you want to look at it.

To echo pinny_gigs' (love the name!) recommendation, I find that site extremely helpful re B12 types, brands, and ways of taking it.

I started off with Solgar methyl as it was recommended by a few people there and I couldn't afford any of the most highly recommended brands. When I switched to Jarrow's in an attempt to save money, I found my burning skin came back within a few days. I know there are many people on this forum who swear by Jarrow's, so my feeling is that the most effective brand perhaps varies from person to person.

Nope. There will be no difference in the actual B12 in the different tablets. Methylcobalamin is methylcobalamin, regardless of the source. Besides, they will all be made by the same process, almost certainly in China or India. What will be different will be the other stuff. Different manufacturers will use different other ingredients. So Solgar uses mannitol and Jarrows use xylitol as the dissolvable material.

Oops! That'll learn me not to rely on memory. It seems that almost all the B12 is made in either France (1 company) or China (3 companies).

The point about added ingredients is a good one. I like most of the sublingual tabs I have tried and they all contain mannitol. There was one brand that left a sore patch, almost a burn, under my tongue. Unfortunately I can't remember what the dissolvable was.
