I’m in The US and the primary type of B12 used is cyno. I have been receiving injections for about a year. I would say I have 50% improvement in symptoms but it’s been lots of ups and downs. I’m considering trying a different type of injectable b12 (I inject weekly) but I’m not sure if there truly is a benefit.

Anyone have a noticeable difference when changing types of B12
In theory there shouldn't be any difference (aside from some very rare genetic variants) but in practice people do respond differently to different types - I tend to use a mix as adeno works with urge incontinence issues, methyl with some neurological symptoms but does nothing for mood related symptoms and hydroxo/cyano.
Yes, I used methl before but found hydro works much better. It's the same deal with oral supplements for me. I've never tried injecting cyno though.
If you can afford it, I'd suggest giving some rotexmedica a try. You'd spend like $80 for 100 ampules. That'll last you a long time.
Can you give me the information how I go about ordering that. I inject cyno And I have improved greatly but I still have some symptoms that don’t seem to want to go so I am thinking about trying a different form of B12 to see if that helps I also think the cyno may give me headaches
Have you tried changing how often you inject? That will have the biggest impact. I recently switched to hydroxocobalamin and haven’t noticed a difference but in theory it may last longer.
I inject weekly. I went from my doctors version of loading doses (one a week for 4 weeks) to monthly. That didn’t work. So then I tried 2 a month and now I am back to weekly. Weekly had been working pretty good but the past 2 weeks I seem to be in a period of regression. I feel awful and I’m not sure why. Unsure if I should try injecting even more frequently. It seems like a lot but I know there are people on here who inject everyday. I’m trying so hard to find balance with all this. I go stretches of feeling pretty good and then out of no where stretches of feeing awful.
I was doing weekly with cyano and got symptoms again so switched to hydroxo weekly. I might be feeling better but logically it shouldn’t make a difference. Maybe try that. It can be hard to get your hands on the multi-dose vials but it’s worth a try. You need to keep it in the fridge and discard every 28 days. I draw up the syringe and let it sit for a bit while I do other things, so it gets to room temperature.
Are you also taking folate daily?
Also, magnesium is really helping me (I use Calm powder), along with coconut water (for potassium). I have injected daily for 18 months but I can finally skip a day here and there without regression, with these other supplements.
I did switch from cyano to hydroxo a couple months ago. I do think I have fewer headaches. (They used to come on right after injecting cyano, so I do think that was related.)
I take a multi vitamin that has 800mcg of folate. When tested my numbers always come back above standard range. Do you think I should be taking more ?
I also take a magnesium supplement that has 3 different types of magnesium in them. I think they help.
I may try and see if my doc will prescribe me hydroxo and see how it goes. Thank you so much
I would not take more folate than that. I only take 400. I tried taking a higher dose methylfolate once and it gave me horrible anxiety.
I do think I feel better on hydroxo than cyano, especially when I skip a day. I am in the US and sometimes I can order Rotoxmedica from mycare.de (and other times they say they do not ship here🤷♂️).
But yeah, if you need to, I don't think it would hurt to try injecting a bit more frequently, if it improves your quality of life (coming from someone who has been stuck injecting every day for quite a while.)
Than k you so much! Your reply’s are are so very helpful. Do you mind me asking what symptoms do you still have? I still struggle with dizzines, balance issues, pressure headache, short of breath, and in general my brain feels like scrambled eggs sometimes
Glad to be of some help! With almost daily injections (I try to skip days sometimes but usually regret it) I still have intermittent pins and needles and internal vibration in my upper body, occasional tinnitus, digestive issues, trouble finding words, occasional air hunger, occasional low heart rate and blood pressure, occasional fatigue, and terrible insomnia. Mental and physical stress make it worse.
Injecting Cyno works for me. Injected Methyl and oral cyno or methy does nothing for me (from what I've found so far)
