Hi. I have been diagnosed as B12 deficient and due to family history, PA. My main symptom was mouth ulcers, a dry mouth and stingy lips. I have had the mouth ulcers since before xmas without much reprieve, except for the last week or so, after I started taking a multi B vitamin - in addition to 3 x monthly B12 shots.
i have been diagnosed with P.A. B12 of 70, homocysteine 31.7, if 640 etc
have had 5 b12 injections over last week or so.
i wonder whether the swelling could be due to an allergy and the other mouth problems the P.A. i was put on some pantoprazol tablets for stomach lining but only took 5 days because of the swelling.
maybe its a combination of both things. i thought the allergy if it is one would have gone by now though!
all the doctors just keep telling me its nothing to do with b12.

Make sure your folate levels are high if you are taking b12. The ulcers are definitely a symptom of low folate and you need it to be high to make the best use of b12.
Julie, so you have more info on this? I'm curious. I had a terrible introduction to b12 and they didn't know my blood sugar was high at the time, despite symptoms.
Yes, and I had trouble talking from my sore swollen tongue and the skin around my mouth turned white and cracked. I also noticed changes in my nailbeds and cuticles. My lips have been buzzing a lot.
Yes my lips cracked and corners of mouth bleed and lots of white crusty skin!! Mouth inside still sore and affected by rough food- crisps bread crusts etc- spicy foods- vinegar etc
