Has anyone had a headache taking this? Will it go soon?
Sublingual Methylcobalamin 1000mcg - Pernicious Anaemi...
Sublingual Methylcobalamin 1000mcg
haven't taken sublingual but have used a nasal spray (and still do). When I started I used to get headaches. On the whole I don't now though occasionally I will get an 'ice-cream' type headache.
I think it is relatively common for people to experience headaches with methyl
The headache is a sign that you were low on B12. The methyl is very active and your cells kick into metabolic overdrive when they get the B12 and the headache results from the metabolic byproducts. The headache can oalso ccur 24 hours later as B12 cycles through the gut.
When your B12 levels increase, this flood of byproducts is less with each injection or sublingual.
Also take folic acid to help maximize the efficacy of the B12. Also a daily multi-vitamin to replace the minerals, metals and other vitamins that also get used up fairly rapidly once you start on B12.
This headache has been reported by many when first starting on B12. I've also had episodes of aggression myself and can feel like I'm getting angry.
Hunger is another symptom.
I currently use 5000 mcg methyl sublinguals to fill in between my weekly cyano B12 injections. They help clear my head during meetings if I take two about 30 minutes before the meeting. They last me about 3 hours.
I regularly take methylcobalamin sublingual tablets; let them dissolve under your tongue ... I was 130, blood count for B12, Deficiency, now have Hydroxocobalamin injections every 10, weeks. B12 Sublingual's should not give you headaches ..
I'd bet on it being some other medication or lack of medication ; even lack of a vitamin that's causing your headaches.
The gp actually prescribed 50mcg cyanocobalamin a day- I've chosen an alternative to that. He refused to give me injections and said I didn't need them.
Criteria for treatment is - 180 - to - 900 B12. yours was 154, which is extremely low; it's no wonder your suffering. You should be receiving B12 injections.. I find that Jarrows Methylcobalamin 5000, B12 Lozenges work well; and you can take as many as you like ; they're only water based and the body will not store much of it. I also Use Boost Vit B12 Oral spray, this will help when energy is low.

These work well if you take at least 4, lozenges a day under your tongue (don't chew!) and the Boost is also good for energy when your struggling to do anything.
Your Doctor is out of order telling you that 154 is not a low count, normal is acceptable about the 800, mark.
Go back to your GP, or find another one.
I've got solar methylcobalamin 1000mcg from Holland and Barrett that'll bring my levels up won't it?
You won't get much from 1000mg go get the Jarrows B12, 5000mg. anyone with Pernicious Anaemia will tell you they are the best of the sublingual products. But you can get the Spray-BOOST from H&B.
Your not getting much out of the 1000mg tabs unless your taking about 20-30 of them a day.
Well...I have just returned from my gp and they told me my symptoms are down to anxiety due to my recent severe RA diagnosis!
I'm not convinced. ..no mention of b12.
My concern with taking so much b12 would be : as I'm taking methotrexate for my rheumatoid arthritis, my liver has to be kept healthy. Surely this much b12 would mean my liver would have to work harder to keep my levels as they should be, ridding itself of any excess?
B12, is water based - you can take the whole bottle every day it won't hurt you.
Go to the pernicious anaemia web site ; you'll get all the information you need.
Yes I have headaches from this I also seem to get a swollen toungue
Sami0x,
your headache is most probably because your low in B12, and when you top up on the Vitamin it rejuvenates your nerve endings, so there is possibility that your headache is your system beginning to work properly again. But, it's more than likely another underlying cause, Not B12 Vitamin
I'm fine today...no headache
