Injecting yourself?

I've heard a lot of talk about injecting yourself with B12.

Where do you buy the vile and needles from?

Any advice would be welcome.

I buy my supplies from mycare.de(b12) and medisave .co.uk(needles etc)

I'm lucky (or so I've been told as I get my b12 on prescription from my GP), they will also give me a new sharps box as and when it needs replacing. Everything else I get from medisave, next time I order syringes from them I'd get bigger than the 1ml size as I've found that I struggle too get the whole ampule into one syringe. I would also recommend that you get a box of pre-injection swabs. Hope this helps.

I get my vials and needles at my local pharmacy under prescription from my dr. I get the box of 100 diabetic 25mm IM needles that last a year.

I've been getting my hydroxocobalamin from Amazon.de who are cheaper and faster than mycare.de

Syringes, needles and wipes I got from Amazon.co.uk

That's interesting to know, I never thought of using Amazon.de.

I use mycare.de but will certainly look into that on my next order.

Thank you for that.

10x1ml from amazon.de is €18.89

10x1ml from mycare.de is €33.68 (over half of which is shipping).

Yes, I paid €31 on my last order and the postage rates were ridiculously high. I just checked amazon.de and the same would today cost €10.95

well worth it.

If you inject into the muscles, then you'll need a longer needle, something like 1" or 1 1/4" (if you have extra fat)) length, and something like a 23G (gauge).

I use 25 gauge needles for intramuscular injections.

Hiya, I use "Terumo Syringe with needle U -100 insulin 25g x 5/8" ....

needles attached. Brilliant! Nice and sharp. Straight in. IM. No problems at all. Cost about £15. For 100

Oh I buy Methylcobalamin 5mg/mL from B12d.org it's expensive for a big 30 ml bottle but, I am better on this than Hydroxocobalamin.

I also bought

BD Microlance 3 needle, which is 23gauge x 1 inch and 1/4.... number 14 needle to draw up simply because by going through the rubber dam at the top of my bottle I find it slightly blunts the needle! SO, a simple swap of needles before hand is better! Cost less than a fiver...

Nice wee sharps yellow box, 0.5L. . It's about 8 inches tall, slim, for my sharps. Cost around £1.10

Bang off you go! Job done lol

I absolutely love that I have the freedom, the knowledge that NOW, I am better than I was... better than I have done in about 4 years by simply doing it myself.

Yes, I still go for my 12 weekly Hydroxocobalamin from nurse at my practice. ... because. ... they would NOT budge from 12 weekly. I was "crashing" by 3 weeks after it. Ridiculous, awful.

Now. I inject either.... 0.1ml or 0.2ml (remember my friends I am talking about Methylcobalamin NOT Hydroxocobalamin!) when my body tells me I need to inject. Which for me is approximately 5-7 day intervals.

I HAVE control over this ONE aspect of my health and I am SUCH a better person from it!

I am back to ME! The Sue that was 4 years ago.

This illness, this chronic illness and it's medication as far as I am concerned is as important to us as INSULIN is to a diabetic, because, without this medicine. .. Our livers would pack up... then. Well, I need not say more eh.

Sorry, i seem to have gone into rant mode!

I do hope this all helps!

Thanks for posting such an upbeat approach to self injecting. Really inspired me. Everything is on order - time to take charge and respond to my symptoms myself.

I've been self-injecting for almost one year.

B12 and syringes through local pharmacy at request of my neurologist.
