B12 deficiency can cause an altered sense of smell and taste but beyond that can't really answer your question.

My sense of taste and smell was very much dampened and altered. It has been one of the first things to improve solidly, after 7 weekly and 2 ten day injections.

My Dr said my zinc malabsorption could affect taste and smell too, and that as b12 helps heal my gut my zinc will rise naturally.

I had almost complete taste loss. reversed after injections and anaemia treatment. Good luck .

Just a guess - have you eaten anything with pine nuts in recently? There is something called 'pine mouth' which can leave a nasty taste for a surprisingly long time.

Hi Marcie here,

I have this for some time when I get up in the mornings and it can last for several hours. I have no idea what it can be either, but have put it down to one of the many PA sidelines. I feel groggy for a good two hours, usually have a fuzzy sort of headache in the forehead area, am very clumsy and this horrid taste. I wonder if I can feel a tiny bit of an "iron" to this, cleaning my teeth and using the Difflam I have for the ulcers I still get between injections seems no help as it comes back. Maybe somebody knows what is the root cause, I feel I must have the most awfull bad breath so keep supplies of mint things in my bag if I go out, it is so strong I keep thinking everyone for miles can be put off as soon as I speak. Isn't it horrid, but now we know there are at least the two of us it is a bit of a relief to know you have the same. Anyone reading this perhaps you have a cure or anything to drink, eat, take? I am sure we do not care what your suggestions might be, I think I speak for us both saying it is driving us potty. Thank you

I dix ask my partner if he could smell my breath and he said no. But the taste is very there.

i feel like this sometimes, especially if i drink a lot of water before bedtime. like my system is trying to clean itself while i'm sleeping. My mouth will taste horrible when i wake up.
