Hi Leanneta,

Really glad to read you are having active B12 and MMA tested! Usually no special requirements for that blood test, over and done with in no time, then a 10 day wait for results. Waiting for results can be the hardest thing ever! Hope your blood test will be conclusive and treatment then will be started so you can be on the road of recovery! Do let Us know the outcome!

Wishing you good luck, Marre.

Thanks Marre, me too! Just sick of feeling the way I do and then being told that I'm low but in range. Going for the blood test today then starting b12 boost spray from hollard and barratt to see if can make me a little better whilst wait for results.

Thanks for all your help

Double check what the b12 is on that spray, as the ingredients on most of H&B's pills aren't that great. Ideally you want B12 as methylcobalamin. If it doesn't contain this, I can recommend Natures Own.

Managed to have my MMA done through my GP at the local hospital. Phoned up the hospital to find out what was happening as it had been a while, only to be told (albeit by a friendly, helpful woman) that it takes 6-8 weeks for results!!!

Ah no! Hope I don't have to wait 6 weeks. I was told

Yest I should have results next week. Fingers crossed. Does anyone know if serum glucose gets affected by b12 def as I now need fasting blood test as apparently my glucose borderline

As far as I know serum glucose does not affect the active B12/ MMA. Hope the week passes quickly for you, Marre.

Sorry Marre I meant can a deficiency of b12 affect glucose in body?sorry not the best at explaining what mean

Qh, that is a very complicated question you are asking, allsorts of B def can affect amino acids in the body, cause metabolic impairments, dysfunction of any urea cycle enzyme, so in a way possibly yes, but far to complicated for me to explain! Marre.

Thanks. Will have to just await all blood results. Hope fasting blood tests comes to nothing. Was just thinking that maybe due to a deficiency this might of affected my glucose results
