Starting phase 2 trial : Terazosin for Parkinson's Disease (TZ-PD)

Things are moving fast. A Phase II clinical trial for Terazosin in Parkinsons is already being organised. Double blind, placebo controlled,12 weeks treatment in 20 people with PD (1:1 randomisation). Safety is primary outcome, reporting early 2020:

Surely there must be men on this forum that are already taking it for enlarged prostate as that condition is fairly common. I wonder how they are doing with their PD progression? Look forward to the next trials....

A man on facebook group reports improvement in his PD symptoms with 2 mg dose.

Seems odd that after many years of widespread use, there is the need to test for safety and tolerability of Terazosin?

Sounds quite exciting. However I'm concerned about the delay in get another round of trials. I too don't understand why this drug that has been prescribed for a number of years isnt made available to parkinson's patients now.

What is your best guess as to when it might be available in the US?

A second drug mentioned, doxazosin, I am starting today. Safer.

My husband was on Terazosin, but his ankles/feet got swollen, side effect of this med. Thinking about asking for a Doxazosin prescription. Have you tried it? Any side effects?

PS. I haven't received any new HU posts in my email for the last a couple of days.
