whenever I cleaned, I always used chlorine bleach and still do, I was never particularly careful about not breathing it in, also used methylated spirits, turpentine, kerosene and many other chemicals. Just wondering. Marg

Everyone has their theories as to what "caused" their PD! You pick.......

A lot of health websites recommend removing toxic household cleaners. If you can breathe in the fumes on a daily basis for many years or decades, it's possible. It's well established that environmental toxins can induce Parkinson's. Were it me, I'd switch to natural products.

Bit late now, don't you think :)

You didn't say if you have Parkinson's. I assume you do. If so, yes, it's a bit late, but I think it still makes sense to switch over to toxic free stuff. I don't know, but it's possible that continued exposure might accelerate your progression.

Hi Margo, You are not a helpless victim of past mistakes. It is not too late to take steps to slow/stop/undo some of the damage. A skillful naturopath, or functional medicine practitioner, can steer you to tests (hair, urine, etc.) for heavy metals, volatile organic hydrocarbons, or other toxins, to detect and measure the kinds of poisons still in your body. You also may have a yeast overgrowth (Candida) in your body--indicated if you are a carboholic or crave sugar. (There are companies such as Genova Diagnostics that offer many such tests.) Then, through chelators such as DMSO, infrared sauna, healthy diet, and/or removal of mercury amalgam fillings, etc., the naturopath will guide you through detoxification. They say this is a slow process--it may take months to see results, but if you persevere, the benefits will come. (Disclosure: I have not done this yet, but am scheduled to take an initial step in a few weeks.)

You can take years of tests and waste multitudes of $$'s and worse .....TIME. Time you should accept and reconstruct your life to include the time necessary to travel and enjoy this life while you can and with others.

It is an unfortunate circumstance, but we are all products of our environments. I'd hate to be in the hospital room dying of nothing!..... Just sayin'

Curious...Why were you using all these chemicals? What were you cleaning? Did you do oil painting and used turpentine?

I had 5 children, and things like crayon, markers, pen ink, paint Biro and others use one of these chemicals to remove, and things like soap scum ect. , are easily removed with kerosene. As a young teenager ( about 50 year ago) it got bike grease out of white school socks etc. too

I have have always collected broken jewellery to repair or up-cycle, cleaning various types of metal also can be cleaned with meths or white spirit.

I have always kept a range of these in stock, very useful. Marg.

Hi,

Never too late. Check this article. I have not tested them all. Some sound weird. I taught art and always used non toxic materials. Good luck
