B1 and the possibility of reducing medication…?

I had a strong positive initial response to B1 which pretty quickly turned “jittery”. After stopping and starting again a couple of times, I now take 125 mg -ish ( chop my 500 mg Solgar tabs into 4). So 125 mg once a day.

I have been feeling much better but now I’m feeling over-medicated on my Madopar/Comtan dose.

I have already cut back my Madopar by about a third, but still feeling I need less. I would love to reduce or ideally stop taking the Comtan altogether. Any thoughts or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. I reacted with jitters until I added a good quality multi vitamin. It seems that B1 needs other minerals to enable it to work smoothly. Search for Dr Lonsdale for better inf than I have. I have reduced my Madapor

I find that being overmedicated is just as dysfunctional as being undermedicated. Make adjustments in small steps.

Me too - I hate the dyskinetic symptoms of being over-medicated, and rightly or wrongly, generally err on the side of less rather than more. Thanks for the reminder to take things slowly - I can get a little over-excited when I think something is working!

Some forum members and Dr. Costantini reported that in some people on B1, they were able to reduce their C/L dose.

There are 2 Facebook forums specialising in B1 where you might receive more feedback on your question:facebook.com/groups/parkins...

Might should look at Dap1948 book on B1.

Thanks everyone. I do have Daphne’s great book, but nothing specific in there about reducing meds. I think I have to be patient and take things slowly…. my life lesson from this perhaps

arty-fact If you overdosed on 125mg of B1 as HCL (you are one of few, HCL doesn't easily cross the BBB).

I overdosed on 500mg 2x daily and again on 250 mg 2xdaily. I am currently working on 125mg 2x

I am assuming TTDF.

I overdose on 50mg TTDF (I calculated 33,3mg B1) a day for 10 days. I took a 4 days break and then changed to 1 every other day.

I am currently on break. I went to a local store yesterday to purchase a cap filling machine that said online they had. The manager said not in stock. I had travel approximately 20 miles one way and insisted he check his computer. He showed me not in stock at this store. When I got home I checked then indicated not available this store. I brought the largest empty caps they have, my intention is to try and divide in 1/4ths (12.5mg of TTDF and try every day.

The bummer is if I had ordered the kit when first heard of it, I would have by now?

No, I'm using HC - the Solgar oral 500mg tabs (that I ambitiously bought 2 jars of when I started on the Protocol) and chopping them into 4. Bummer about your kit indeed!

Dang, I was taking 100mg HCL that I stopped (like week 1 on TTDF). I am still taking 25mg that is in my B complex. I tried taking the 100mg twice a day with no noticeable effect on me. The doctor that first diagnosed Parkinsonism recommended B1.
