Sleeping problems

My husband has PD ( diagnosed in 2010) doing pretty well on meds prescribed by neuro docs...one thing though is sleeping problems...of course, at 80 he needs to get up for bathroom visits a few times a night...but getting back to sleep is a chore. He works many hours a week on physical jobs so lack of exercise is not the cause. We have tried many answers but they only work for a little while. Any suggestions? FYI, he takes azilect, ropinerole, comtan and gabpenten.

It helps me, but you have to take it every single night. I take 3 mg a night, I think it must build up in your system.

I ave found that I get very stressed when I can't get back to sleep, and getting stressed makes my Pd worse. So, I found that if I get up and go to the lounge and read a dull but interesting book then I soon get sleepy and can go back to bed and sleep again.

About the bathroom visits. Try not having any liquids after 5 pm. That helps! Also, try to practice Pelvic Floor muscle exercises to strengthen the muscles in the pelvis get stronger and he will be able to hold his urine much longer. See a physiotherapist about that.

Don't just give up!

My husband has REM Sleep Disorder which we've been told is a pre-curser to Parkinson's. He has suffered from fight or flight dreams for over 13 years. We found CBD Oil from Charlotte's Web taking twice a day has stopped most of the dreams. Albeit not perfect he is no longer on Clonazepam which was a awful drug with terrible side effects. The CBD Oil also helps him with depression and anxiety. I'm convinced that the CBD Oil calms the brain and is used for so many other brain disorders.

We order the strongest CBD Oil they sell which is the Everyday Advance. This bottle cost us $250.00 and last for a month. If you search the internet you will find studies that were done in Brazil with CBD Hemp Oil with Parkinson's patients who suffered from REM Sleep Disorder and those who had problems sleeping. I encourage you to read about the CBD Oil and how much it helps those with brain disorders. They sell to all the states in the US. Here is the web site. cwhemp.com/

I have sort of a narcolepsy thing going on. If I push my body and my mind to much I start tying up in knots. As soon as I am able to relax I fall asleep. I am taking my second vacation in 4 years and I woke up stiff as a board. I took my morning dose of meds and sat down to watch the Tour de France. I tried to stay awake but I have fallen asleep 5 times snoring and all. I feel like I am not done yet. Kind of like having a BM. Do I have to go or not, will I fall asleep or will this feeling pass. Instead of IBS I have ISS. ( I Sleep S.)

When I was initially diagnosed lack of sleep after about 2am was chronic. My Dr put me on a very small (10mg) dose of the antidepressant Nortriptyline to help with the sleep problem and it worked. I'm still on it in fact. Usual dosage for depression use is around 100mg.
