I tend to do better on the smallest dose i can take

Any one feel the same way

The neuro who diagnosed me said he liked to under treat rather than over treat. I agree and yes I try to keep to a small dose but without too much compromising of function. But we will all have different ideas of what a small dose is.

i guess a small dose is the smallest does you can live with

all of us are at different stages

the more i exercise the less i need

So Bailey can you say what your maximum was and what you need now ? I think it is interesting the changes and control we have over our own health

make was 8 rytery of the max pill in a day

made me a mad man put me in the er 2 times in a week

i now take 1azelet a day

i now take 1 sinemet 25/100 5 times a day

works great

This is what I am finding also. I got diagnosed with PD two and a half years ago and have been on 25 - 100 Sinemet since then. Due to my insurance I had to change neurologist and the new one wants to add in Azilect and Maripex. I found myself getting insomnia and dyskinesia and I'm going back to what was working just fine. Some doctors just love writing those prescriptions. I also find that exercise is very important and I'm trying to do more and more of that. Dealing with what I have is one thing, dealing with the side effects of medication is quite another and very unpleasant in a different way.

Although I signed up some time ago, I haven't posted anything so I guess I am new. I strongly agree. I just tried Comptan on top of Sinemet and low dose Neupro (diagnosed 12/12) and it made me so wired and I couldn't sleep. Not much dyskinesia but I had a lot more energy - too much - as I couldn't focus at all. I was a total mess within 6 days.

It's just not worth it, so I am stopping it. I feel horrible but it will pass. I have trouble walking during some off times, mostly toward evening/night. I'd rather feel better and have down time than feel like a speed freak with insomnia.

I also tried Rytary - no way. Too little and it did nothing. More and it made me wired too. To me, most if this stuff is like speed. I'll stick with what works and just keep going. Exercise is the BEST thing for me too! Helps my pain, energy, overall feeling. We have to fight this with what we've got. Pills aren't always the answer and actually usually cause me more problems.

the drs just guess at a dose it is up to us to determine what is right for us

the meds can be worse than the PD

I started out with a low dose of Pramipexole. Was bumped up to full dose last spring. Gained about 15 lbs. Asked to be off of it & tried Neupro patch. Had some wicked side effects so I'm asking to be back on Pramipexole but at a lower dose. Trying to get the weight off! It certainly gets discouraging at times.
