Treating Parkinson’s Disease With Diet

Plant-based diets in general and certain plant foods in particular may be used to successfully treat Parkinson’s disease in part by boosting L-DOPA levels.

What about preventing the disease in the first place? See the previous video Preventing Parkinson's Disease With Diet.

The serotonin story I mentioned explaining the crowding out of precursor amino acids at the blood-brain barrier is described in my three-part series The Wrong Way to Boost Serotonin, A Better Way to Boost Serotonin, and The Best Way to Boost Serotonin.

To PowerFemale....My advice is my own experiences....I gave my own view (myself as my own guinea pig) with what I could come to terms with following a vegan diet...I'm not totally Vegan (85%) but I do notice a difference following a plant based way of eating AND especially NO dairy!!! I not only have Parkinson's but have Heart, Diabetes and Thyroid issues as well.

I also tried using coconut oil, not the amount some describe but....sorry don't see any difference...for me anyways. However, I still use it, love the taste. I also want to report that the news media is saying how 1 to 2 cups of black coffee a day helps with Parkinson's...ugh, not for me, I get stronger tremors (sigh-sad)

I do take 1 Chlorella (green superfood) chlorophyll & beta-carotene which does seem to help and a Probiotic.

Skip the black coffee and start drinking (high quality) black tea:

A healthy diet is great but you must consider the article about DHA omega 3 and PD by Dr. Fuhrman. 'Leaders of the Vegan Movement Develop Parkinson's: Case Studies'. It appears a leader of the vegan movement, Herbert Shelton, had PD and absolutely no levels of DHA omega 3 in his blood. Also, Fuhrman notes a woman with a deadly B-12 deficiency (you should be supplementing with both of these, B12 = methylcobalamin.):
