this would seem to be excellent to use for PD. Google it and you'll find lots of videos.

no but it looks terrific!!! Been watching some of the youtube videos online.

We're from Massachusetts and will be looking for it through RI PD Association

group since they are closer to us.

One APDA newsletter I saw recently pointed out the difference between

"getting exercise" (going to the gym) and "being physically active" in other areas of life.

(Going to get my husband to rake leaves this fall. LOL!!)

I took a LSVT Big & Loud course at a local hospital with a PT and speech therapist. It was very helpful, still is. Made me aware of my posture, gait ,voice and swallowing. I have a dvd to practice with. We (all the people who graduated from the course) meet once a month for a refresher class. That keeps me motivated and I can stay in touch with other Parkies.

thanks, so much! My husband plans to do LOUD in January after the speech therapist at our local hospital gets certified in LOUD. And I need to follow up with another location for BIG. Glad to hear you had a positive outcome! That helps.

here's a good article from Neurology Now. It's about how even sleep apnea doctors tend to avoid getting diagnosis and treatment. Good info. overall.

I am taking LSVT. BIG now. It is a high energy physical therapy exercise program specifically for people with Parkinsons. It is typically 1 hour 4 x week for 4 weeks. It's one on one & it isn't easy, but wow it gets you out of your comfort zone. Great for mind as well. Balance. Aerobics.

Try it. You can do it at home & it changed the way i feel. Still get very tired easily but I look forward to the workout.

Thanks, Parki and others.

I'm watching my husband act feeble and tentative. I don't think his PD has progressed to that level. He needs the kind of intervention that BIG will provide. We just walked with a metronome for the first time. I think that cueing will help him walk at a steady pace. I want to see him improve his self-confidence. It always was there before PD.

I went to a one day introductory workshop on LSVT and found it quite stimulating. Film evidence of improvements in individual sufferers was shown followed by some practical experience of the movements. The follow up was awkward as there are not many LSVT instructors to be found in the UK so I lost touch. However I picked out a few exercises from the short film you have enclosed and practise them regularly together with some other exercises I have. I still find them invigorating.

I just completed LSVT Big, took approx 14 visits, 1 hour each. Excellent program. You will work on balance, stamina and basically you have to learn what takes an average person a level 3 excertion u have to use a 7-9 to accomplish same. You will do some yelling to keep your voice big, learn to get out of bed big. Highly recommend. You will have to excersize on your own daily, but just for a few minutes and that helps. This program will teach you to live a very normal life w Parkinson's
