CP and Endometriosis?

When I was in my 20's, I was dealing with what I thought were ovarian cysts, and pain on my right side. I had a laparoscopy, and I was told I had scar tissue from "a previous surgery", only I'd never had surgery! Turns out it was endometriosis, which causes scar tissue. In my case, the tissue caused my intestines to adhere to my abdominal wall, causing pain when anything was moving through, as normally our guts are free flowing. This is still an issue. And of course, scar tissue creates more scar tissue.

So I'm wondering, could I also have had menstrual tissue around my pancreas, thus causing the damage I now have to my pancreas? My gastro doc cannot figure out why I have CP, gall bladder is fine, I was a light drinker, diet had been mostly healthy. She said sometimes they don't know what triggers CP.

Anyone else with endometriosis have CP?

Hi! This is Megan from Mission: Cure. My brother has chronic pancreatitis. He obviously doesn't have endometriosis, but before he was diagnosed, a surgeon found scar tissue ("adhesions") throughout his abdomen, much like you describe. Looking at the research, I see that endometriosis can cause pancreatitis. Here is a research article: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

I wish you the best dealing with 2 painful conditions. Thanks for being part of this community.

Megan,

Thank you for this information. It makes so much sense in my case. Perhaps I can finally understand the pain and issues I've had for years. I really appreciate your finding this study for me!
