Writing on behalf of my Mum. My Mum had her pancreas removed three years ago. She is still constantly feeling nauseous mostly after she has eaten. She tends to have only one or two good days a month the rest she spends in bed due to nausea. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Hello I'm sorry that you're mum is struggling so badly with nausea, it's terrible!

I struggle with nausea & vomiting due to acute chronic pancreatitis.

I have been prescribed a couple of different tablets for it, so far the best one has been Ondansetron 4mg. But I don't know if your mum has tried that one.

There's also Cyclizine 50mg.

I hope that you're able to help your mum find some relief, it's horrendous feeling very nauseous all the time.

Best wishes x

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes, my Mum has tried both of those medications and provided little to no relief.

Sorry that I couldn't be of much help. Hope that your mum's GP or consultant can provide her with some help.

Dear 007vegan. I have CP and EPI almost 14 years. Maybe your mum should try medical cannabis. Smoking or vaporizing / dry herb vaporizer / or Rick Simpson oil under tongue can give fast relief of nausea, lack of apetite, pain and insomnia. It worked for me these long years. Of course, it don't work for everyone... But it worth to try. Best wishies

Yes, I think the medical cannabis might be our last option. Fingers crossed it helps. Thank you.

I use over the counter Meclizine or Dramamine. Really helps nausea. Meclizine is the so-called nondrowsy form of Dramamine, but I find Dramamine does not make me drowsy.

Hi

This is my first post on this forum so what I say may be irrelevant! Your Mum my simply be experiencing 'normal' reaction to Creon that I am guessing could have been prescribed following the op.

The regular Creon made me so nauseous that I had to stop it but recently a new GP introduced me to Nutrizyme 22 that does not give me nausea.

NB because of the current shortage of P E I was recently given Creon 25000 - that turns out to be similarly effective and non nausea inducing.

P S My daughter who also has pancreatic insufficiency has recently been prescribed Creon 10,000 and had to discontinue using it due to the nausea and stomach pain...
