Second Opinion

I was originally told I had possible CP after EUS showed scar tissue on pancreas. I had additional labs done for any autoimmune issues and my IgG 4 was elevated and I was then told AIP and put on prednisone. I haven't been happy with the communication in my Drs office so I got a second opinion from bigger hospital in Chicago and was told that additional testing should've been done before the diagnosis of AIP. Now Dr wants to repeat MRCP and do another EUS to get a biopsy of the pancreas which wasn't done on the first EUS because 1st Dr didn't think it was necessary and I've also read a lot about pancreas biopsy causing a flare or other issues... anyone had anything similar happen or thoughts on this?

Hi, sorry for the problems you're having. I have IgG4 RD. I'm in the UK and there's not many of us. I had a pancreas biopsy taken many years ago and thankfully it didn't trigger a flare up, however a liver biopsy did. Prednisone is supposed to be a good treatment for IgG4-RD. Unfortunately in the long-term, there are some not so great side effects.

I hope you soon get a proper diagnosis so that you can be given the best treatment!
