What do you do so you can enjoy the season? What kind of modifications do you make so you can participate even though it's not how you used to participate?

Hi,

The holidays are super challenging for me food wise. Last year I was able to eat more than I can now, so it’s been difficult because I love food. At Thanksgiving I tried to immerse myself in my family to help with not being able to eat what they were eating. I did this with my mom by watching movies/TV shows. This helped some. Still figuring out how to navigate the holidays though, and I’d love some advice.

Thanks for the post!

Thanks for your response. I know, eating is a problem. I do find eating what works for me before the party helps me to not be tempted by food that I cannot eat. I like your idea of focusing on something else. Also, I try not to overdo it. So, I don't go everywhere I am invited to go. I pick one or two activities that are more sedentary and mean more to me. Step by step, living life one day at a time.

I think those are great strategies! I get exhausted easily from social interaction so I do rely on introvert “recharge” activities alone. During times like the holidays I try to give myself a treat (within my comfort level) so I don’t feel totally left out by all the food. I hope your holidays went well!

In general, I had a good holiday. Although, I did have a pancreatic flare, that slowed me down even further. I do enjoy this time of year.
