Lignocaine infusion
If he wants to give it ?? go for it. cheers.
I had lidocaine infusion for chronic pain at NHNN. My pain is due to multiple osteoarthritic conditions. My consultant advised that lidocaine IV infusion helps about 1/3 of people with nerve pain.
For me, it did nothing except make me nauseous, but I think that my pain is nociceptive and not neuropathic. It's a potentially "scary" treatment as there can be some serious side effects, but I was advised that the dosages are kept low to avoid some of the most dangerous effects (and at least you are in a hospital if anything does go wrong!)
Thank you for your reply. The consultant at the pain clinic told me that they dose you up with the lidocaine until it nearly reaches toxic levels - like you say, that's why it's a good do that I will be in hospital! I am going to the pain clinic on Tuesday and I will sk all the various questions before I go for the infusion. Thanks again.
My pain consultant would not entertain lignocaine in fusions. In his opinion they can be dangerous. But its your body and your decision.Good Luck to you.
Thank you for your reply. The post is over 12 months old! I had the infusion but it didn't do any good!
