Mission to keep my brain mega busy

Hello all ,

Well I did it for around 48 hrs , I made a plan it kind of worked.

Mission , use all props , opposite hands, arms , feet, in order to both lower pain and help my FND. If I start to feel pain throw my self into , movement, distraction ,TV, somthing that needs doing , or moving to make way for many Christmas decorations .

Food , drink , I used everything, I walked through the pain and told it go a way you are just , jumping on the wagon, I was not letting my brain , thinking , working out things .

So my plan was not to give space for pain, not to be able to give it time.

Well unfortunately got to tied, now it wants to punish me , so I have turned up my head set .taken extra , extra meds . Then gone not enough I have hit it with extra morphine .

Itching like mad , that’s the problem with taking to much.

I am for once feeling more in control and glade I have take the extra medication to try and get some sleep. I bought the mince pies for the family , oh dear , I have eaten them to take my medications, have to get some more tomorrow.

I worked hard the last period not to let any history of negative thoughts in , deliberately rang a few family.

I was working at cross wiring my brain patterns, not leaving space for pain .

Yes I feel it worked , I must now work on a more gentle approach.

It just shows why for me I must use the right music so , I can move , both the body as my mind goes to a better place foe a while.

I even use my bear feet to feel the carpet and touch , feel objects , water , taste .

It just shows for me my pain does not know how to shut up, this seems to help a lot.

So I am going to work on cooking , never cooked , picking up and playing my saxophone again, it’s time , I am the boss not pain . Will it work um 😳 only can experiment.

Any tips I would welcome, it is a journey. Different to my posts so far with me feeling time to find away to gain more energy, Rein gage again.

Good night all , thing of you , love David xx

Hi David,

Great to see you are still using pain management techniques. In terms of tips for doing activity (cooking and playing the saxophone like you mentioned) the main helpful thing I have found is pacing. In case you're not familiar with the concept, here's some information on how to pace: merseycare.nhs.uk/joint-mus....

hi David, I hope today is one of your better days. I’m still recovering from a nice Thanksgiving weekend with my daughter and her family. We had it at our house but I ordered ahead for precooked dinner. My husband and daughter did most of the work. I had to take extra butalbital just to sleep through the night. Seems like I have to take each day very slowly or nothing will get done. Apparently naps have become an important part of my afternoon. You’re an amazing example of good self care. You also have a great attitude. Time to walk around outside and enjoy the sun. ✌🏻

Thank you , I so glade you had a nice weekend, I take Zopiclone 7.5 at night to help with sleep , it is a hard balance to find when your body is going through so much pain,it constantly throws everything out of balance, I think it is to hard for many people to understand, our loved ones see what we go through, I think you do amazing , it is so hard to get the pacing right when loads of other factors play apart. Yes thanks I have had a better day, I am still working on mind distractions and keeping busy, you know it’s funny because we know it is going to blow up in my face, but hay ho , it is helping for the moment.

It’s nearly 11.00pm here in the UK weather has been cold and wet, it gets dark around 4.30 in the evening but nice and cosy my daughter Emma love’s Christmas so she came over last week , Juliet my wife and I put loads of decorations up and the tree early . I love it . Always loved a good Christmas tree with lights.

I think you are so right to take things at a slow pace , so don’t beat yourself up, you do really well. I am not great at pacing so I keep coming off the rails. Right time for bed , speak soon love David

Your journey inspires me. As for tips, eat more mince pies. What can it hurt? 😆
