Hi - I have a question about hypnotherapy apps - I've heard there are some designed for people suffering with chronic pain but all I've been able to find are some that are more aimed at helping people to relax, and I can't see them helping. I am sceptical about the benefits of hypnotherapy (for myself - I know it works really well for some people) but I want to explore every possible avenue to minimise the pain I'm in. Has anyone tried a hypnotherapy app and if so, did it help? I also wanted to find out if anyone had tried CBD oil and if that helped. Again, I'm sceptical, but am happy to be corrected!

For me CBD helped relaxing but made no difference to pain. I don't know of any hypno apps for chronic pain but you can certainly try self-hypnosis and/or NLP. Also, I found this site extremely helpful: tmswiki.org/forum Good luck!

I don't know any hypnotherapy apps either, but have had a very positive experience with hypnotherapy. This was with the help of an experienced therapist in a number of sessions and has led to considerable pain reduction. Now I can get myself into a trance so self-hypnosis is possible but I wouldn't recommend this without professional support.

I agree with Scotsman 53 that tmswiki is a very interesting website with lots of food for thought. All the best!

Wow - that's amazing being able to get yourself into a trance but I suspect it took a lot of practice. I'm glad you've managed it as it has obviously worked for you. How many sessions did it take out of interest, and when you say therapist, was it a hypnotherapist or a different type?

Thanks - I have had a look at the site, and there's lots there to read. Really helpful suggestion which I really appreciate.

Hi EllieJ,

The hypnotherapy sessions I had were with a hypnotherapist who is also a medical doctor in her main job. I had about 10 sessions with her in the course of which I was able to address underlying problems including my pelvic pain step by step. These steps were possible because of being in a trance, which I could leave at any time, if, for example I felt uncomfortable. It was quite easy to get into a trance if you’re given a few directions, provided you want to do so and you aren’t afraid of losing control. This was three years ago and I had another couple of sessions three months ago when I couldn’t deal with a new challenge on my own.

It’s a bit difficult to explain how the different layers of your personal experience can be reached in this way if the therapist can ask the right questions or make suitable suggestions while you’re in the trance.

Not what you're looking for?
