Asking the ladies on here if you get any left sided breast pain from costochondritis ? For over a week now I’ve been having awful pain that’s both on and behind my left breast , also feeling slightly more breathless than normal , it can be there whether I’m doing nothing , lying down or walking around . I have a pacemaker on my left side so I don’t know if it’s caused by costo or if it’s from my pacemaker . At times the pain feels as if it’s from my heart , it shoots up from below my breast and feels quite deep inside behind breast and goes to heart area . I had a phone appt with gp , she wasn’t overly concerned . I’m just taking pain relief and trying to ignore the pain but it’s difficult especially last night when it felt like it was coming from my heart . I came close to calling 111 but I just keep thinking I’ll leave it another day , I did go to ED last week as I was having lots of chest tightness plus feeling more out of breath and all tests ok so they ruled out a blood clot .

Left sided breast pain . Costochondritis or heart ?
have you ever had any symptoms from your pace maker before as a comparison?
for many years, I had been going to many appointments because I was complaining of a sharp pain on my left area under the breast and all the test came back negative. They just said it was teize disease if that’s how it’s spelt. This went on for many years and it will only come back if I do any heavy lifting or twist in any strange way I would only say that if you were having any symptoms out of the ordinary at the same time as the pain, that’s when I would be ringing 111 for advice.
111 always seem to send you off to an A&E department if you mention chest pain though.
I went to A&E in January with atypical chest pain/ mainly upper chest and shoulder, but chest pain all the same. All bloods, ECGs and following holter test came back satisfactory. Put on Bisoprolol as was tachycardic and I have a history of tachycardia, but no AFib. Seen in cardiology and discharged. Osteopath picked up trigger points in my chest and shoulder and I get the pain after some activities …. mainly heavy gardening!! Fast forward to two weeks ago when I saw GP as the pains had not really subsided and she diagnosed costocondritis. Shoulder x ray showed mild Osteoarthritis.
Had quite a flare up ( following more gardening!) this week - usual pains in upper chest and referred pain into breast. Have spent a lot of time with a heat pad which does relieve the discomfort. I do worry that it is heart/breast issues, but am now getting to the stage where NSAID gel, rest and heat tend to settle it and if it settles with that treatment I calm down!
Hope it all settles down for you, but it so horrible and difficult to know what to do sometimes when symptoms are sort of vague!
