Hi , I was on Butrans patches for years. They did help with my back pain at the time & when my pain improved i stopped them easily myself . Didn't have any side effects apart from certain makes the glue caused red sore patches , but all in all they are very good for back pain xx

Hi Hzhr7 thanks for replying. Oh that sounds promising I was on morphine for 6 years but had to get off them the btainfog was awful still on loads of other meds but I'm desperate for pain relief still waiting on mri scan on my back I had L5 dissected in 1999 but I'm sure its L4 playing up now

Glad to be of help . I have had a decompression & fusion at L4 L5 & in 2013 & couldn't walk for 2 years . I found pain management very good as the lady who did my course (1 to 1 ) had similar issues . I have just had an mri & have further discs prolapsed above + 2 in my cervical spine & also narrowing . I find gentle swimming to be one of the best things & try to do my physio exercises most evenings . Winter is the worst as the pain seems to go through the roof . I am only on paracetamol & Oramorph now & find that with pacing atm this works fairly well for me . If you want any more info please don't be frightened to ask xx

Hi Betsy

I was on butrans patches for a while but have to keep upping the dosage. In the end Doc and I agreed that they were not doing a lot for me so i came off them - i found this very easy to do. Also as Hzhr7 mentioned the patches did make my skin red where the patches had been. This went away once off them. I hope that they give you some relief.

Take care

Hi Betsy,I hope you get your scan soon - I worked as a medical secretary until July of this year when I was finished on the grounds of ill health and I know in our area MRIscans are taking about 6 months to get - I am waiting for one too.

You take care and 🤞 that you can find some pain relief that works.

Hi Betsy50

I am now on Transtec patches, I started off on Butrans patches but sadly I’ve been on them so long that my body has become used to them. I also take slow release Tramadol and paracetamol. Not sure the paracetamol does anything but hey ho… I take all these for pain due to failed surgery syndrome. Back to Butrans, they definitely work, you start off on a low dose and work your way up until you get relief. They take a few days to kick in. You need to place them around your chest and back, moving them around each time you change them as they can make the skin a little sore from the glue. Surgical spirit gets rid of the glue marks. The Transtec patches I’m on are just a higher dose of the same thing. I’ve been on them a few years now. Happy to answer any questions you might have x

Won't your insurance help with the cost? How about contacting the manufacturer themselves and see if you can get patient assistance? Also there are other assistance programs. Good luck and God bless!
