Costochondritis : Hi all I have recently been... - Pain Concern
Costochondritis
Study the anatomy of the rectus abdominis muscles and you will see that their upper attachments are to the costal cartilages of ribs 5 6 and 7.
Go-ogle images or look here: baselinehealing.com/anatomy...
If the rectus abdominis are not fully functioning this causes tension on the ribcage, through trigger points developing and the lateral abdominal muscles getting tense and strained. I believe this is what often causes the painful symptoms of costochondritis.
Focusing on activating your pelvic floor muscles, the base foundation of the body and then using your rectus abdominis muscles - think of them activating and extending section by section of the panels of muscle tissue, extending midline up the front of your abdomen from pelvis to chest as you breathe in.
Imagine the midline markers of the pubic symphysis, navel and xiphoid process of the sternum (all associated with the linea alba that lies between left and right rectus abdominis muscles) aligning as you breathe and work with your Base-Line. Stronger and longer with every in breath.
Move as feels natural whilst working with your Base-Line. I use the roll-down action a lot.
The other muscles to focus on using once you have some connection to your Base-Line pelvic floor and rectus abdominis are: gluteus maximus, rectus femoris, trapezius.
I'm more than happy to try and answer questions.
