I have peripheral neuropathy for 9 months. Intense pain that makes me want to scream or cry. My poor family. I've practically deserted them. Withdrawn into myself. Can't even talk on phone because I don't want to as the pain is so bad. I miss my normal boring life. I have just come across research saying statins can cause peripheral neuropathy. I am on atorvastatin. I've stopped it today. I will let you all know.

Peripheral neuropathy. Statins?
Thas awful. I have had peripheral neuropathy in both my toes and finger tips. This due to diabetes which developed about 4years ago. Podiatry tests indicated no feeling at all in my toes and very limited in my fingers. I too an on statins but generally have no pain at all. Was yours associated with diabetes. ? The only pain I suffered was due to very high inflammation levels causing PMR which was completely stopped by predinisolone. Might be worth having a bloodtest to check out your inflammation levels.
Peripheral neuropathy can be caused by all sorts of things. It may seem strange but have you any neck /shoulder problems. I have peripheral neuropathy caused by cervical myelopathy, a degenerative disc disease which affects the spine and nerves. I take pregabalin for nerve pain. This was only diagnosed after MRI on the neck and head.
Hebe24, I take pregablin 300mg twice daily for spondylolisthesis together with tramadol. Unfortunately no pain relief. Does the pregablin work for you? Take care in these strange times.
I got PN about 10 years ago.. Fingers (mainly little) and big toes. I would have had my big toes amputated if I thought it would get fond of the pain (and it were an option). I’ve never had diabetes or been on statins.I had several scans... no obvious cause..
Then .. about 5 or 6 years ago it significantly eased off .. Now all I get is medium pain in my big toes but not too bad. I have no idea what caused it or why it eased off. My doctor said it can just go.
I know this doesn’t give you an answer but have some hope.
