I have been on Pregabalin (Lyrica) 75mg twice a day for bad Sciatica, but I want to come off these and go back on to Dicoflex and Solpadol which i take only when the pain is bad. How do i go about doing this?
Coming off Pregabalin : I have been on... - Pain Concern
Coming off Pregabalin
I think this is something you should discuss with your gp . I tried to reduce from 100mg twice a day to 75 twice a day and found the increased pain was not worth it . I dont have any side effects so I decided to stay with it . Good luck 😀
How long had you been on them? I've only been 3 weeks.
Ive been on pregabalin for a number of years now , i went on dose very gradually until found right level to suit me . Ive never had any side effects , thank goodness , are you having problems with your dose ?
I dont know, I'm still feeling pain and numbness, I would just rather be on tablets I've had before that i take as and when i need to rather than all the time.
Also Pregabalin kill any social life you may have
I have been taking pregablin for 10 years and my GP has always advised that if i wanted to come off it that i need to speak to him and do it very gradually as you can have really bad withdrawal symptoms good luck
Hi MikeT74
I was on pregabalin up until last year decided I didn’t want to take them anymore so I stopped taking them without my doctors advice The withdrawer symptoms were horrendous I was in bed a lot as I was constantly sick , My advice would be go to your doctor so he can monitor you being off them gradually I just stopped them altogether also pregablin is a prescription tablet . I hope my advice was ok I wish you well.
Hi I am on 150 gms pregabalin twice a day. I certainly feel worse if I ever forget to take one. I’ve been on them for many years now. The only side effect is flatulence which is horrible and very embarrassing at times!
Hi Mike this is a very low dose so in terms of withdrawal you should be fine. Just see your doc and ask him to help - but don’t be psyched out by the horror pre-gab stories you will no doubt hear, it can be enormously helpful for the right condition and used responsibly.
Hi Mike m Mum was on the same dose as you her doc suddenly stopped her drugs and five days later she was found on the floor shaking and trembling and having palpatations, she could have died the medic said and he rushed hereto a rehab centre were she recieved help ,they told her she was experiencing severe withdrawal from the drug ,so what ever you do don't suddenly stop them get help with taking smaller doses over a period and then a smaller dose on and on until your free from them, these drugs are very addictive,l myself are on 300mg three times a day, lm in a mess with memory problems ,if l miss one accidentally l get very ill very fast until l get the missing one back into my system and even then it takes a day or so until all the withdrawal symptoms settle back down again,so take care Mike ,your doctor will help you come down but be sure not to let him bring you down over a short period it will take many months dropping a small portion at a time ,or getting intervention using other drugs that ease the withdrawal symptoms, take care and be safe Mike.
Thanks Kay, I was only in them for just under 4 weeks and after all the horror stories, I came off them over two weeks. Went from 100 twice a day to 75, then 75 once a day then 75 every other day then 25 every other day then off. And I will stick to Solpadol as and when the pain is too much
