Hello there,

Sorry to hear you're struggling with pain. I can imagine that usual NHS services have been delayed due to COVID-19, but perhaps try calling your GP to request a telephone appointment? You could then get some advice about the treatment options that are currently available to help manage the pain you're experiencing.

Here is a link to a selection of information leaflets about pain management that may be of interest to you:

Like the first post said. Ring your GP and ask for an appointment via phone. Explain your predicament and ask if they can give you anything.

It's very hard to answer your question because I don't know enough about you or your condition or what's getting injected. I also don't know what country you live in. If you're on the NHS system and you live in the UK (I live in the US) you do have something over the counter that I can't get in the US. I can't remember the name (it begins with a P) and I think it has Codeine in it. Other things you can do is take aspirin or a different kind of NSAID such as ibuprofen or naproxen as all of these reduce inflammation which is what the steroids do that will be in the injection you're going to get. But there's another thing you need to be made aware of... Not everyone nor every injection Works to relieve the pain. I've had numerous injections in a variety of different joints (including my back and neck) and sometimes they work like a charm, sometimes they don't work work at all and sometimes it work just a little bit. I'm only telling you this because I don't want you to be so disappointed if it doesn't work for you that you get discouraged. Just go in with an open mind and accept that even a little tiny bit of relief is better than nothing at all.Good luck to you.

Look up PMR, if it looks like your symptom then the relief is absolute in the prescription of Predistonol. Immediate relief from very severe pain due to inflammation.

Hello Paul. Well I have RA, PMR Costacondritis, I have 5mg prednisone every day. I had 1 injection 5 months ago and it didn't do anything. All I've been taking just paracetamol. Last Saturday I couldn't stand it anymore, my legs back arms I rang 111. A doctor rang me back he decided I needed a blood test.

I had been on 5mcg butec patches for just over a week so he increased the dose to 10. They seem to be working. Good luck anyway, I dont find steroids help with my pain. All the best.

Thanks i will try and get blood test done

Where is your pain ??? I had steroid injections done in my neck. I honestly went 19 months in Canadian medical system waiting for those nerve blocks I nearly waisted myself from the pain there they had me in opioids for 7 months that made me clueless and a freak wasn’t a drug user thank god wasn’t addicted just loaded then they did gabapentin zombie city. Honestly the odd diladud was helpful just not daily taking flexerill to muscle relaxant osteopathic releases trying to move despite the pain. I understand. I had 3 nerve blocks first one helped I was able to strengthen a bit before it worse off second was a bust he missed the spot the third was the charm I was able to strengthen that’s key.

Hi paul,

I've also deal with nerve damage in my neck. Also have fibromyalgia. Seeing doctor for 8 years. Steroid helped for a bit, nerve block hit or miss. I got second opinion given voltern cream for pain and inflammation. I was also advised to speak to chiropractor nerve pain was so bad. My head felt it was going to exploded.

I seen chiropractor omg he adjust me said my skull was off, 1,2,3, vertebra were off. I'm fix!!! Been seeing him 1, 2 times a month. I cant explained how he changed my life. I was bad, but god bless me with the right person. I hope you can also find that help to.

Be well
