I had lumbar discectomy and facetectomy surgery October last year and was doing great pain free until a couple of weeks, ago, the pain came back like it was before surgery.i had a, phone consultation with my doctor and she has referred me back to the consultant who did my surgery.Hopefully I won't wait to long to be seen.I guess will need another mri to see what's going on.

Hi there,

Thank you for your post and sorry to hear that you are experiencing this! Going to your doctor is the best move at this point and it is promising that you have been referred to the consultant again, which will hopefully be able to pinpoint and tackle the pain effectively and quickly. Good luck with this, and let us know if there is any further advice that we can offer support for.

Hi, Kels1974 - I hope you're able to get in soon, as well. The spine and related issues and pain are very complex. I've had several discectomies, among other fixes related to the spine, so I feel for you. I wish you a good consult ASAP, and may you be pain-free soon!

Hi Kels, I had a fusion and laminectomy at different level in January. I was started to feel a bit of an improvement when and started with physio which became video link physio when bang it started hurting a lot. Physio contacted surgeon who said to keep of exercises till June and then contact physio to see what’s what. Bit of an awkward time to have anything go wrong isn’t it. They said if no better than another scan but I would like at least one hospital to be covid free before I go. Bit of a dilemma. Anyway let’s hope for the best.

Several years, had three microdiscectomies before the fusion. I was the exception as it certainly isn’t the norm. Don’t want to make you scared. Your operation is most likely just fine and it’s just the nerves playing up. I had that several times and got a X-ray guided injection to help the pain. Without an MRI it’s difficult to say much. Fingers crossed.
