I wonder if anyone could help me please. I have multiple problems with my spine and have very limited mobility. One of the medications I take is Prednisolone which suppresses the immune system. I have been advised to stay in my home and not have any contact with anyone. I have a cleaner twice a week and if I have to let her go, for 12 weeks I would not have my toilet cleaned, my bedclothes changed, my rubbish taken out, clothes washed and dried or floors cleaned. Plus all the other general house cleaning. The only thing I am able to do is clean the worktops in the kitchen. This is going to cause severe hygiene issues. Is anyone else having this problem? If so how are you dealing with it?

Hi
I think you need the advice of someone medical
. Maybe if your cleaner came you could be in one room while she is in another because poor conditions through no fault of your own could also make you very poorly. I really feel for you, it must be so hard for you. Thinking of you. Lynne xxxx
As Oldham says, you need to talk to your care provider and the team. I'm sure they have plans in place to take care of the many people who are in your position.
You will not be the only perdon in this situation.
You do need to talk with your consultant about the Prednisolone as this may compromise your health if you get the virus.
Unfortunately, people who are under such medications are potentially in trouble. But we do have to take all the precautions open to us.
Hopefully we will come out of this all together.
Thinking of you. Keep strong. 😷
I don't think you need to let your cleaner go. I would take this matter up with the medical person who told you to.
How does your cleaner feel about the situation? Is she/he fit and well? Willing to travel to work for you? Do they have to use public transport?
Could you both cope with keeping strictly to the 2 metre distance rule or beter still - could you stay in one room whilst the work is done?
Although you don't say what spinal conditions you have, I assume you have some sort of inflammatory condition, hence the prednisolone. There are better anti inflammatory drugs for spinal inflammatory conditions, than prednisolone. If you are taking less then 20mgs per day, I wouldn't be to worried, but the usual does is 30 or 40 mg per day and that woul be a problem. Do you suffer a kyphoscoliosis or scoliosis? The only time I have prescribed prednisolone for a spinal conditions, is spinal stroke, otherwise your GP should be looking at something like Botox injections. Speak with your GP urgently, but do not stop taking your medication untill then. I would be more worried about brittle bones than Covid19. Look after yourself and stay safe.
The government (not Boris!) are busy releasing various guidelines on what to do. these are ones that you may find helpful:
