Costocondritis
Yes, it does sound like it, I've had it for about 10 months. Take care Lynne
How do you cope with it? I just take ibuprofen and it does go away but so painful when I have it! Take care too
I try to out it to the back of my mind but it rears its ugly head!! I have many other conditions which cause me pain that some days i don't know where to turn next. Pain killers take the edge off it, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed without them. Take care Lynne
Hi there
Thank you for your post. I would suggest to still go and get this checked out with your GP if you havent done so already. This can be beneficial to ensure the pain is not being caused by something else, or an underlying issue. The visit may also be useful if there is another cause, to help suggest ideas to relieve this pain.

I went to the doctors and he thought I had a blood clot on my lung (which luckily I didn’t) and he said I had a bad viral infection which was causing the pains but I thought it would of gone by now
My Gp told me mine had probably been caused by a virus, and would likely return with any future virus I might pick up, which it has on 3 or 4 occasions. First time I had it for about 8 months, after that it varied from a month to about 6 months. Very uncomfortable. I am only able to take paracetamol because of other conditions, but didn't find they helped much.
I thought my pain was costocondritis but then I went for a scan and they told me that my sternum grew abnormal and I would just have to live with it. It's been 3 years since the pain started and it only gets worse.
