Looking for hope and glad i found you !

Good evening !

I am a peripheral neuropathy sufferer for many years.

Having been on many OTC vitamins and supplements which claim to help, i feel this condition has progressed to a point where everyday life contains extreme hardship and grief in pain due to the pain and loss of strength and vitality. I make sure i walk with my dog four times a day finding me plopped right back onto the bed in worse pain each time and there i will be until the pain subsides a bit getting up and down all day from anything i do. Twenty minutes on my feet is about an average tolerance and walking beats standing.

Im trying a new food grade med, palmitoylethanolamide, for just over three weeks now with no noticeable results. I am very hopeful, as all articles point to great successes according to clinical trials. Apparently, this is natural and does some healing along with substantial pain reduction evident in three weeks to three months. I feel this is a rare find and may be the answer. I am on 1200 mgs a day for starters. Then, i will, hopefully, find a time when i can stabilze at 300 or 400 mgs once a day with a low VAS (rating of pain) score. You can find hundreds of articles. I need to be very patient.

In my down time, i read articles on palmitoyethanolamide (aka -PEA), all great, to give me the hope and strength to carry me through to the more obvious healing stage. Thats how I found this site, as it was mentioned in a Parkinsons group.

Thank you for listening and your spirit !

I am happy to be here and hope I can bring hope to others as well.

PLEASE NOTE PEA, PALMITOYLETHANOLAMIDE, IS GOOD FOR ALL KINDS OF PAIN FOR MANY KINDS OF DISEASES . Make sure it is micronized, or ultra micronized.

Peripheral neuropathy is highly linked to low or deficient vitamin B12 as is pain, loss of strength and vitality, Parkinson’s patients are often found to be low or deficient in Vitamin B12.

Never supplement with vitamin B12 till bloods are checked for a base line blood level, otherwise once supplementing it skewers test results, which in some could even lead to early death. Also check vitamin D and iron bloods too as they can go hand in hand.

If you cannot get your Doctor to do bloods you can do private bloods, even finger prick blood tests at home.

Hello, again, Coastwalker !

I just replied to your second email without having seen this one first.

I had no idea of the consequences you mentioned.

Do you think it would be wise for me , then, to stop B12 for a certain length of time so that i can get an accurate measure?

I think i must be in a better state by having taken it than not. But, you have given me very useful information that i will look into and thank you so much for helping and caring.

I took high.doses of curcumin for many years after an oral infection and the severe pain which lasted about six months. I was on expensive dexamethasone oral rinses and looked for an alternative, which soon helped. A bottle was about $90 about every ten days of the dex, so this was another welcome relief in many ways. I read the dex also causes cancer if ingested, tho. (Too risky even tho it took down the inflammation in my gums and cheek nicely.) I had scaling and root planing after a few rounds of antiobiotics.

I had waited too long (about two months) with this painful infection and then they had me wait almost a month to get in after that to see a periodontist on my plan. I was limited even tho i complained it was an emergency. I have hence had whole mouth laser gum gingivectomy and overall oral condition very much improved, margins normalized.

Beyond that, a point i would like to bring out, as you mentioned iron supply, is that i found out curcumin depletes iron, eats it up ! I only found this out recently. I had already stopped the curcumin about a year ago , or more.

Moreover, i was aghast when i figured out that perhaps i had lower oxygen, because of lowered iron, and, therefore, lowered levels of oxygen to feed nerves. So, could the nerves be deprived of oxygen through high intake of curcumin ? Who knows and who will test, or admit this, if true. The supplement companies will most probably say its safe and check with your doctor before taking anything.

I read most doctors arent aware of palmitoylethanolamide, which is a very promising substance for pain and has been tested and evaluated deeply.

I will check out B12 more. Thank you, again, for your help and have a great day !

(In addition, multi vitamins for adults frequently don't add iron. When i realized i wanted to restore iron i probably depleted with curcumin, i purchased a multi with the iron. I had also never had read meat, eggs or milk most of my life., which im having now.

I also changed my ways by leaving out sunscreen on my morning walk. I live in Florida and have been, unknowingly, blocking out Vitamin D for almost 40 years this way as well. I only became enlightened on this probability this year. It hit me like a lightbulb and i changed my ways. Everyone remarks about how good my skin looks for my age, but i would rather be healthy and smart.)

I have just spotted your reply here too Hopinggh, had over looked it, 🤪😀 apologies.

I recall being told we need to stay off B12 supplements for around 6 months before doing an accurate serum B12 blood test, which is a long time to wait. though do ask on the PAS site)

* Always ask for a print out of your own bloods for your own records. I learnt a lot from the patterns of my bloods.

Both my husband and I were low in range B12, but not under range to be prescribed shots, yet over the years we have both been presenting on and off with B12 symptoms, we supplement with sublinguals, (sublinguals/under the tongue,) which is meant to get into your blood stream fast, then hopefully into our cells, by, bypassing our guts of which many of us have absorption issues.

*Antibiotics can lower B12 blood levels.

* Interesting about the curcumin that you say can lower iron levels 👍

*👍Yes low oxygen can be down to low iron levels, (we had to figure that out ourselves too just like you did 🤪😀) low iron caused my husband breathlessness, once he took some of my iron supplements by next day he was no longer breathless. breathlessness can also be down to B12 deficiency too.

I think everything has a domino effect on each other. 😀

We now keep off of the vaccines and prescription pills as they have far too many side effects. I never realised how powerful Vitamins and minerals were for many of our problems, some have worked wonders within a day or so.

*I never take iron with any other vitamins ‘cos the iron binds to the others making the other vitamins useless.

How lovely to live in sunny Florida, Hopinggh, we are in wet and windy England 🙄😀

*Note - Those living in sunny climates still need good levels of vitamin D3(+K2)

(We have an Australian friend who was low in range in their vitamin D bloods.)

vitamindcouncil.com is an excellent vitamin D research site which tells you what blood levels we need to be at and what doses we need to take and what medical conditions can be helped. We double our D doses in winter as most of our symptoms come back to remind us 😀😀

Take care

Coastwalker.

Ps - Did you mentioned Parkinson’s ?

Thank you so much. Very informative.

How can we wait so long and deplete precious b12 even more. ? Need to just practically demand b12 shots at the dr. Now knowing these variables.

Well..i always blocked my vitamin d with sunblock sun lotion every day not realizing it.

Lose of iron can very possibly cause lose of valuable oxygen needed for nerves. All works together, as you said, for sure.

Hope you are doing alright !

Have a nice evening !
