Neck pain

Hi, I am an IT professional. Last week I was busy with the new project. I was having a sleepless night and was working hard to achieve the goal. Last Wednesday I completed my work. From Thursday onwards I was finding difficulties with my neck. I was not able to turn my neck to left or right. I kept ice bag for a day but there was no result. I changed my pillow to see whether changing pillow can resolve my problem, but it didn't work. Day by day the stiffness was increasing. Then I tried some neck exercise to reduce the neck pain. But that too didn't work. So my friend suggested me a chiropractor in North York ( downsviewchiropractic.com/

). I am planning to take this service as soon as possible. But before that, I want to know about different chiropractic services available. How long will it take to cure completely? Will I be able to drive a car after the treatment? Should I take any medication during this? Should I continue with exercises that they do during the treatment? If so how many days should I do that?

I have used an osteopath for my neck pain for many years so I will try to answer some of your questions. How long it takes to heal will depend on what is wrong. It took two or three appointments the first time I saw my osteopath, but after that I would only go occasionally when it flared up again. So even when your neck is better from this situation, which should take a week or two, it might happen again.

I always drive home afterwards, and yes, sometimes it feels like I have hit by a brick for a few hours, or even the rest of the day, but drink lots of water and take paracetamol and it will be fine. As for exercises afterwards, go with what they tell you. Sometimes I have been given exercises, sometimes not. However a physio told me that I will probably have to do exercises to keep my neck okay for the rest of my life. They are only gentle moving the head from side to side, which I do sometimes to the amusement of my son, while pulling out of our lane. Yep, it is basically a look left, look right, look left, look right, collapse into a heap of giggles!

But again, take the lead from your chiropractor or physio, they will be able to find out exactly what is going on and how to fix it. Good Luck!

Hi

Iv had troubles with my neck and referred pain, I saw a chiropractor in heworth, I also had 5 sessions of sports massage with a Ana at Solaris. This helped immensely with the pain, I still have referred pain and physio but I try and manage it as best as I can. I'd definitely do the exercises as much as you can. I use a freeze pad for 10mins then hot water bottle for 10mins swapping them out for an hour when I get a flare up. I'd ask for an MRI to see exactly what is going on and to see if you have a trapped nerve or something skeletal.

Keep taking the medication you are. I saw the chiropractor twice and then had a surgery (not to do with neck) so was unable to go back for a while. I found the massages more beneficial to me and I'd do them at the end of the week. At first it's sore but it gets the blood circulation going.

Good luck and I hope it goes ok.

Do you have a physio too?

Kat.

Hey

I seen many a chiro, osteo and physio through my years of joint pain.

I would suggest takin some ibuprofen and some heat mayb more then ice...

And do the same once u have seen the chiro.

I have instant relief once i go, the pain wont GO on ur first visit but ur defo b better .. usually 3 is when ur have the full benefit.. but mayb keep it up once a month as unfortunately when u have a injury of some sort that area will usually end up being ur trouble spot and will occasionally flare.

If u keep on top of the treatment say every 4-6 weeks once ur actually better it becomes a prevention method.

I go to my osteo every 4 week! Wether im good or bad
