2 days ago I felt like I was starting to get the flu. Last night had a sore gum under 1 tooth and woke up through the night and now have a lump on my jaw line that is slowly getting bigger and is painful (throbbing pain) , can't eat. Nothing visible inside. Only thing is I have social anxiety disorder and haven't left my house for about 8 years so can't just go to the doctors/dentist or even have them out to me unless it is a last resort. Hoping someone has had this problem and can tell me it will go away on it's own..??

Lump worry?
Hi
I'm so sorry you aren't feeling too well.it could be an abcess so you need to ask your dentist to come to you. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Yes, I agree with Oldham12, sounds like a tooth abcess which needs dental treatment and won't go away on it's own. Please get your Dentist to see you.
Hi I agree with the others that this is probably an abscess. I have had a few and they are painful. It will go either one of 2 ways - either go down on it's own but it will come back, or burst instead which is frightening and messy. You need antibiotics first to reduce it as they can't do anything until it's right down, then you might need a tooth out afterwards.
This is the problem when you are housebound. Can't you go out at all even in a car? The other solution is to get a dentist call out though this isn't cheap. Good luck. x
Thanks. Called the doctor to see if I can get antibiotics without needing a check up and they are getting back to me tomorrow. How long does it usually take to burst..?? and been reading up and seeing that it can cause sepsis...how likely is that..??
My friend had sae problem she used a pin dipped in hot salted water and gently pressed against gum line and all the yellow muck came out then a salted hot water swished round mouth and spat out and and did this several times and it works wonders
My ex had a similar situation to you. He went to the GP straight away for antibiotics then a few days later to teh dentist. By then the abscess had cleared up. The Dentist checked the tooth and it was fine, he didn't need further treatment. He saved his tooth by getting very swift antibiotics which knocked the infection out before it damaged the root of the tooth.
So in addition to the antibiotics, do the salt wash as that will help too. It is better than losing a tooth.
Hi i agree get the dentist in you probably need antibiotics have you tried cloves of garlic nasty taste but it helped me when i had toothache badly xx
I agree about an abscess. I also just read about social anxiety and inflammation. Not sure but perhaps council could talk to you over phone. Peace to you.
You need to be seen by a dentist. Many GPs will not prescribe for dental problems. If you cannot go to the dentist, talk to them and ask for a referral to the local Community Dental Service. They will be able to do a domiciliary visit. While hot salty water may draw the pus from the abscess it is not necessarily a cure. If the infection goes in over it can lead to issues such as a heart infection.
