Update on what i thought was sciatica

So thursday 13th june 2019 was the news i wasn't expecting

My buldging disk in lower back has slipped and is leaking

So baiscally its this ...outer lining of the disc tears and causes the fluid to leak out, causing nerve root compression

So its hitting the nerve that controles my left leg and foot. I have lost some feeling in the leg and foot. And its also caused drop foot which means

1.The inability to raise the foot at the ankle

2.The inability to point the toes upward at the body (dorsiflexion)

3.Unable to walk normally in heel-to-toe fashion

4. Scraping of the toes across the ground

I can get surgery in my spine but i need to lose 9 stone and even then when they fix me the damage to my nerve that controles the left leg is permanently damanged and even if i lose the weight still no guarantee of the operation

An appointment is being made for me for Victoria hospital to hoepfully get an injection into my spine which is anesthetic and like a Pain relief may last for several days or even years

So im now classed as disbaled and will be applying for my blue bage once i get the needed documents xxxx

Oh my goodness I am so sorry. I have a couple of herniated discs at L5 S1 and C5 C6 that cause all kinds of issues. I also learned recently that the substance that leaks from the discs is recognized as foreign by your body and can cause autoimmune issues which makes sense for me because I have autoimmune issues that seem to be more aggravated as of late. I also have the same foot issues you do. I grieve not being able to walk at a normal gait. I find MFR massage incredibly helpful in relieving pain and actually restoring some range of motion. I truly wish you the best.

So sorry you feel so rotten. I've just been referred to orthopaedics, I've had sciatica on and off for weeks but just recently it's changed, more painful and literally goes from the base or just above my waist right to my feet. Also if I sit, stand or walk for about 5 minutes my right bum cheek gets really painful, goes numb, stings and then gets sore again. I've been referred cos my symptoms have changed. Just wondered if you get similar symptoms to me. Please take care Lynne xxxx
