Gallstones with pain in middle of chest!

Hello. Newbie here!!! Hope someone/anyone can offer advice. I have been diagnosed with gallstones and likely to have them removed on 11th December. However since having my endoscopy back in August, I have been getting an aching feeling underneath my sternum. The GP said nothing to worry about but I was told during my endoscopy that I have an enlarged blood vessel. The pain is in the same area as this enlarge blood vessel. Should I be worried? Do I need to seek medical advice? Anyone else experienced this? I actually feels like a panic attack symptom. Help!

Hi, the surgeon will know about the enlarged blood vessel but you will also get the chance to tell him about it before your op. Are you sure they said blood vessel and not enlarged bile duct which would be normal with gallstones?

Hopefully the surgeon will put my mind at ease when I speak to them on 8th November. But if definitely stated it was blood vessel. They found it on the left hand side when the camera was being lowered into my stomach.

Hi there, my wife has been through months of discomfort prior to her own operation. This may be not what you want to here but she quit drink, pastries, meats and cheese. This reduced some of her symptoms after that it was just very painful we used co-codamol, ibuprofen and hot water bottles. We found heat patches attached to her tee shirt were good for when she was out of the house. We have pound lands in our are where you get 2 pads for £1.00. Hope that may be a little help. She has the same issues after the operation and can only eat small meals; this will bring a huge lifestyle change. We hope she is going to be healthier for it in the long run... Good luck!

Thanks for the info Chris. I have cut out everything that I can. I was also told not to take any ibuprofen as this can damage the lining of the stomach creating more acid. I will give the heat pads a try when I get a chance to pop to the shop at the weekend. Has your wife seen a gp/post op appointment to discuss comfort? Good luck to you both :)
