Does anyone take etoricoxib?

Hiya,

I saw my rheumatologist today & she’s prescribed etoricoxib for my pain. I’ve read through the info leaflet & the potential side effects sound extremely scary!!

Has anyone any experience of taking this drug & what were the side effects. Also, did it help with the pain?

Thanks very much 😊

Deb

In April 2007, the FDA issued Merck a non-approvable letter for etoricoxib. The letter said Merck needs to provide more test results showing that the drug's benefits outweigh its risks before it has another chance of getting approved.

Hi Deb, yes,

works like a charm if the pain is mainly caused by inflammation. For me this usually is a 2-3 days topic, solved with 90mgs once daily. No side effects.

Pain in my legs and back often has nothing to do with inflammation (neuropathis) & then it does not help.

Are you supposed to take the daily low dose?

Thanks for replying. I’ve been prescribed 60mg once a day to start with. I’m not sure whether to take it in the morning or evening though. I have osteoarthritis & Costochondritis & and am really hoping this will work!

I have been taking it for years and had no side affects .It helps with pain and stiffness in joints for me .Give it a try and if it doesn't suit you ,you can let your rheumy know .It's a trial and error situation .

Thanks, I’ve tried various other meds & hoping this one will help & won’t have any horrible side effects. 🤞

Hi Deb

My GP prescribed it for me for the pain of frozen shoulder. It was very effective, enabling me to sleep without being woken up by pain and to get started on physiotherapy for the shoulder. I was on it for 3 months and now just do daily physio exercises to keep the shoulder mobile.

I hope it works well for you.

Hi Cazz,

I’m glad it helped you. I am hopeful it will help me too, even if it just enables me to get a good night’s sleep & be able to get out of bed the next morning.
