Can I open zapain 30/500 capsule?

I suffer with an esophygeal Web which makes swallowing tablets and capsules impossible. Just wondering if it was OK to open the zapain capsules and empty them onto a spoon to swallow with water? I normally just crush the tablet form, but not sure about the capsules.

Thanks.

Zapain is a brand name for Co-codamol.

I see no reason why it can't be crushed on a spoon and taken with water.

Probably taste disgusting though!!

Thanks. I know it tastes disgusting lol, I do it with the tablets, but this time it's capsules, I don't see why I shouldn't be able to do the same thing and just empty it on to the spoon as it's the same as the tablet I assume, just pre crushed as it's in capsule form, but just wanted to be safe.

Thanks.

It isn't slow release which must never be opened or crushed.

Presumably in capsule so dissolves quicker. More effective.

So should be fine, yeah? I have never seen Co codamol or nurofen plus be slow release, and I see no mention of slow release on these zapain capsules so I assume it is fine?

Hi if you are in the UK why not ask your pharmacist? x

I called a couple of pharmacists and they weren't overly convincing just saying "It should be fine, but I can't give you a definitive answer, ask the doctor". So I did and he said pretty much the same thing except "ask the pharmacist". Just want to be sure and safe. Thanks.

Whilst the answer this time is yes. The best person to ask is your pharmacist they have a massive amount of knowledge that is rarely utilised.

I actually went to 2 different pharmacists today and got different answers from each if them. 1 said no problem, the other said no you can't do it. Really frustrating. Thanks.
