I am up to 900 max at this time but the max daily is something like 3600 mg. The Dr. should have put on the script up to how many.

Day 1 take 1 tablet morning noonand night = 3 timees = 300 mgs

Day 4 add another 1 tablet morning nooon nd night =600mg

Day 7 add another 1 tablet morning noon and night =900mg.

Keep going til required daily dose is reached

You increase slowly and just as important decrease as slowly if you have to stop.

Never go cold turkey.

I have written this 4 times !!! Hope you can understand!!

you can increase this to 3 capsules 3 times daily but that is a maximum dose for severe pain. So 900mg 3 times a day

I would ask your GP or pain specialist (whoever prescribed it for you). I was given some instructions of how often to increase and to what dose. My maximum was 3000mg a day but it did not work for me, it just scrambled my brain! Hope it goes well for you and give you some pain relief.

I was given 100mg at night to increase to two. I could only take that amount because I take citalopram 40mg a day. seemingly they don't react together very well . x

Should have warned you electricladyland - we have had more questions and posts on this forum about Gabapentin and its sister Pregabalin.

Surprised our GP didn't tell you. You either love them or hate them. If you don't have side effects then they are brilliant but side effects can create memory loss and feelings of being 'spaced out'.

But do give them a serious trial. As i say they can be hugely beneficial.

Speak with your GP, read the encosed leaflet about possible side effects.

So good luck

Spaced out you can say that' again I feel like I'm on another planet sometime read the notes and saw the posts on here and the Internet it either works or gives really bad side effect the GP wants too see me every few weeks

Thanks

That medicine is for seizures and you should call your doctor and look it up on the computer. Nothing to mess with.

in reply tojudy-brown91

Yes judy I've read the info with the drugs and the Internet says it also used for nerve pain

Neuropathic pain also belongs too a group of medcines Called anticonvulsant which is also used to treat epilepsy

Good advice Dan saw the GP yesterday told him it going well

Hi I was on gabapentin for several months slowly increasing to 3 x 300mg x 4 daily. However I didn't last long on this prescribed dosage as I was totally spaced out, suffered from short term memory loss, losing perception of my surroundings and walking into objects and stumbling. Eventually I had a bad fall and then made a decision to reduce this dosage as was worried in case I had another fall. As other people have posted the dosage should be prescribed by a clinician as

Whoops pressed too soon! 😳

Again even if clinician has prescribed dosage still be aware that this may not be right for you personally, as everybody is different. I was determined to go back to work so made a conscious decision to slowly reduce and stop taking gabapentin. My pain level is still quite high at times but feel that I am able to think and concentrate better. Good luck anyhow and hope your health improves.
