Is it like getting a steroid injection? Dose it work?

On occasion, the back may feel odd or slightly weak for several weeks after the procedure. The nerves will eventually grow back (regenerate), but the patient's pain may or may not recur. If the pain does recur, a second radiofrequency neurotomy can be performed, and similar results will usually be achieved.

Yes I have. It didn’t work well for me and they grew back much quicker which brought the pain back just as much as before. Hope it works for you x

I had it done for pain radiating down into buttocks after corticosteroids failed. Very successful and still effective after nearly 6 months. Fingers and toes crossed.

Go for it.

Are you having a nerve block of a chemical sympathectomy? I've had both, was completely recovered from the nerve block within 3 days, at least 3 weeks for the sympathetic as that was much deeper. It probably varies depending on which nerve is being treated and of course everyone reacts differently. The sympathetic was worth every second of discomfort for me, one of the best things I ever did. And nothing to it, you just have to lie still for a few minutes!

Good luck,

Jo

I had a denervation done of 6 facet joints 7 weeks ago. It was not bad apart from one point where I nearly jumped of the table but I was given more sedation and it was bearable after that. It first made it worse but now it feels much better in that area. I'd say go for it, it lasts no longer than an hour (and could be shorter if less are done) and the benefits lasts a year or longer if you are lucky.

Yes. Helped me for a few months - long enough for me to do physio and strengthen all the muscles.

I've had several facet joint ablations at several levels of my lumbar and thoracic spine and have had them at differing times. The relief from intense pain began for me very soon after the treatments and each one lasted at least 9-10 months. My back has been a source of chronic pain for a long time, but I must say, it has settled down pretty well over the past year or more! There is hope for you, too! Now, I am suffering from severe arm and shoulder pain and am trying to decide, with several of my doctors, if I should opt for shoulder replacement(s) because I also have the propensity of falling with no warning! This would be bad news if I fell after shoulder replacement surgery. Anyway, I'm encouraging about your facet joint ablations...they certainly helped me.
