Fylida you posted a very similar question earlier. Members will lose any interest if you keep asking.

Some people get success others don't. It won't change the outcome

The members certainly don't seem to be losing interest. In fact, have had a stash of interested, caring and often tragic replies. Sufferers need this sort of communication and I believe that new members will continue to want to share and commiserate with each other. Older posts do not have the same relevance, even if the health conditions themselves don’t change.

I only think she meant as you posted this same question a few hours ago not before. I don’t think she meant anything by it x

That's exactly what I said. 10 hours ago and 4 different members replied.

Now you are asking the same question.

I follow all posts butt found myself switching off.

Its not the same question. I wanted to know if anyone had had SUCCESS with steroid injections. I have only been reading negative results.

OK.....I can't hear any difference

Does anyone know how long it takes for pain to improve straight after a steroid injection into the lumbar region? Many thanks,

Steroid injection Anyone had any success?

Yes to both.

Instant success.

In 20 years only 3 didn't work and knew immediately as not as painful as the others

Thank you, Bananas. What I meant was this: i am told that after a steroid injection, it appears that the pain recedes afterwards and fairly instantly, but this improvement is minor (days to weeks). I would not call this success as the guidance handed out by practitioners is six months wiyh a general lessening of pain over time.

I wanted to know if the six months or so has been achieved by members and whether they are satisfied by the experience. It is fair to look for a balanced view.

If you get an instant effect it's usually because a local anaesthetic is given along with the steroid, once the local wears off pain can be worse for several days then it may possibly improve but the steroid takes time to reduce inflammation.

Thank you, Bantam12. I do realise that anaesthetic needs to be added to the steroid, I am only wondering if anyone has experienced long term relief......eventually! Have you? X

No, as I said on your other post I've had no positive effects at all.

And your previous reply was one of which propelled me towards asking the extended time relief question.

Thank you.

I would like to close down this post now. Thank you to all members who have taken the trouble to reply.

You can't close down the post Fylida only delete.

Admin will close a post on very rare occasions if it has turned abusive.

David's injections were successful as I said. Only 3 over 20 years did not work. He found out immediately as there was no internal pain.

The reason they say 6 months is NOT the time you get relief but the time between injections. Any more frequent they are less likely to work due to scar tissue.

Ah, Bananas, that’s the reply am seeking, thank you very much. I am only making enquiries in case these injections turn out to be necessary. But are the last thing I would want. As you know, my heart is with the CBD oil, and am clinging on to the hope that they will do the job as far as is sensibly possible. Not expecting to be 43 again! But am now turning to the drops as the capsules have not proved very effective, and am one of those pesky people with a super sensitive old tum. On advice am melting the remaining capsules under tongue for a couple of minutes whilst a bottle of drops is at present winging across the sea to me. Apparently they are stronger and more quickly effective than capsules? Just about still hopeful and optimistic.......🤞🏼😄🌈

Hi, I had one on 18th December 2017. It started working within 3 days until probably about 3weeks ago and yesterday and last 3 days Ive been in agony again.

I had pretty much no pain in between which was great however, steroids can affect ppl in different ways- although it took lumbar pain away.... had horrific effect on mental health x

I hope you start feeling the rewards from having it done really soon. Make sure you rest to allow it to get to where it needs to be xxxx

Hi Hannah, many thanks for your reply. Sorry that it affected you in a mental way, but pain, and disappointment in such a short period of relief, can do that. All steroids take a huge toll on the body, whether one is sensitive to them or not. Are you going for another one? How long did you rest for afterwards?

I took it as easy as I could with two young kids for 5-7days, u definitely felt relief from all pain after a week but like I say- massive improvement after three days xx

Don’t blame you. Do lots of research, and then more!

I will. I’m 31 and don’t want to risk mobility by having it done XX

Of course you don’t, the last thing you want or need. Ask the members their experiences of this procedure and, again, do your own research bearing in mind there are no absolute guarantees in medicine (in not much else either). You are so young, please be cautious and don’t move a muscle till you are reasonably satisfied.
