SIJ pain is vile. I have it through years of bad posture due to my disability. Now the bones are rubbing on each other. My left hip has also worn and will need replacing.

If injection have not worked for you then try a physio. Exercises and stretching can help but must be built up slowly.

Posture is very important too and learning how to sit, stand and walk correctly

Last resort is surgery with a fusion.

As I said my pain is caused by my disability and as I can't change that I take care in what I do or how I do it.

Tried strong meds but found Paracetamol helps enormously too

GP no help MRI shows nothing so they just don't believe me now struggling to walk it's like they think it's all in my head! Can't take much meds so pain unbelievable so scared I won't be able to walk soon.

I had 2 mri's. 1 on my neck and 1 on my knee. In both cases I was told that there was no reason for me to be in so much pain just "minor changes". I asked to be referred to the Pain Clinic and the doctor there said that the problem was to do with the nerve endings and he gave me steroid injections which helped for a few weeks. Then I had the denervation treatment on my knee a few weeks ago which is helping (they can't do the treatment on the neck). It seemed incredible to me that 2 people can read the same mri scan and come up with completely different answers. Maybe there are things that an mri doesn't show and g.p's just accept what they are told. Good luck, I hope you get some help soon.

I have SIJ pain too, as a result of scar tissue formation after surgery for a slipped L5/S1 disc. I had 2 injections of anaesthesia, steroids, and .... something else, I think, and they worked for a couple of months each time. Because I responded well, they did a radiofrequency denervation on me, which also helped.

I have had these treatments on my back and my knee. I have had to reduce the steroid injections now because my blood test last year showed that my blood sugars were raised above the acceptable level. This year they are back within range so I will just have to keep on the reduced levels.

Yeah, they don't like giving them very often...

The problem was that this was before I got myself referred to the pain clinic so I was seeing different practitioners for different areas of my body, They insisted on injecting "their" area and then a couple of months later sending me for guided injections in the same areas. My shoulder was a problem for several years and even after the mri they insisted on injecting it. It was only after I saw the doctor at the pain clinic that he realised that it was my neck that was causing the shoulder problem.

Same thing with my Mum! 8 months of agony in her lower back. Turned out to be her hip. 1 hip-replacement later, and she's back at aqua-aerobics.

To be fair, I do have arthritis and impingement in my shoulder but for three years I was told it was a fibromyalgia flare up. I knew it wasn't and then it took another year of visiting "extended scope practitioners" before they would refer me to the pain clinic

Have you seen a podiatrist? I am having SIJ problems (I am hypermobile) which is being caused by problems in my foot which is changing my gait. So it is related to posture, but the active posture of walking. Often problem in the feet can have an effect further up the system in the knees and hips. In many areas you can now self refer to podiatry but in some areas you have to ask for a referral through your GP.

Well apparently one side is hypermobile and the other is something else well chiropractor pulled pelvis from front without asking as we had discussed now other side us hurting and rubbing in centre, I am beside myself you can seem to trust anyone wish I hadn't gone. Is it good to walk do you know that hurts as does everything else but am getting very weak it's a nightmare
